Hi, my name is Melissa Jones and I am a patient of Dr. Douglas Olson in Nashville, Tenessee. I have my lap band surgery tomorrow (4-25-07) and I am so excited and nervous all at the same time. Can anyone offer any helpful hints at this point?

Hi Melissa Glad you joined us. Good luck tomorrow and welcome to the losers bench. I had bypass but the best advise I have is walk, walk, and walk some more. It really will make you feel better. I also loved my flavored chap stick. My mouth was so dry and it helped. Good luck Jane

WALK...WALK...WALK...WALK...and then WALK some more!!!! I had RNY 12/29/06, and I walked a lot and was barely sore. I had gall bladder surgery 4-13-06 and did not walk much and about died of soreness for about 4 days. Moving really make s a diffrence. Congratulations...you making a wonderful choice. Your life is just starting God Bless Miranda

Hi Melissa. I had Lap Band surgery on 11/20. My advice is to take the pain meds when you need it.....USE THE BREATHING SPIROMETER thing they give you to deep breath and WALK WALK WALK. I didn't deep breath after surgery like I should have and the only pain I had was in my shoulder blade when I tried to breath in. I got out of bed and moved as soon as I could and that does help. Take it easy and enjoy the fact that you are about to change your life. Good Luck and Welcome!!!
