I did. But all I did was turn in a bunch of Weigh****chers food diaries and weigh0ins. I was approved in about 2 weeks! Still waiting on a surgery date though.

I did the weigh****chers thing too, but threw all my stuff away. When I was working I tried to have this surgery and the boss put the exclusion for weightloss in our policy, so I could not have it. I retired in August and now have state retirement through Humana and they DO cover, so I intend on having the Lapband as soon as I can get through the rest of this 6 month thing. I am having it in Georgetown...I hope!!

Georgetown is awesome! I had Humana and still do I had been on Jenny Craig the year previously and they used the sheet I took in for that. I had gone for 6 months before deciding to have WLS.

Yes, everyone there is so nice. Mine said it had to be 6 months within the past 3 yrs. Naturally, I threw away all that stuff, when I got turned down a year ago... not thinking that I might actually get to use it... Oh well, the time will go fast hopefully ..

Rita, I did the 6-month diet for Humana last year and had my lapband surgery in Georgetown last August. With the 6-month diet, you want to lose some but keep your BMI above 40. They want to see that you CAN lose, but if you lose TOO much, they can say you don't need the surgery. So it's a fine line. I used my 6 months to get used to giving up caffeine and soft drinks, taking small bites, and chewing well. By the time I finally got to have my surgery, those habits were pretty well ingrained. I wish you well. I'd be glad to answer any questions you have about the band. Kathy

Thank you so much Kathy. That's what I will do. I drink decaf diet pepsi anyway, so it won't be too hard on me. Chocolate is another thing, ha. I will be gone from Monday - Friday of this next week. Hubby and I are going fishing for a week at Green River, so guess I'll get on it when I get back. I will be full of questions once I get going, so thank you ahead of time... Rita

I have Humana too and I had to do the six month diet thing. I had my surgery by Dr. Allen in Louisville (excellent surgeon). One note. Dr. Allen's office had me complete all of the paperwork before I finished the six month weight loss routine (I saw my regular physician each month and I used the American Diabetes Association diet plan and walked/swam for my exercise). When I finished my paperwork, they submitted to Humana for approval. Of course, they denied it, but ONLY because I hadn't finished my six months. So, when I finished the six months, we resubmitted it and it was approved right away. Apparently, if they had denied it for other reasons, we would have known before the six months weight loss program and we could have taken care of those issues in the meantime. I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it did for me! You're in my prayers! karen in kentucky

I have Humana and had my surgery 4 years ago (this June 2nd) and I never had to do a 6 months diet. Just had all the diets I was on paper and the office submit it and was approve right then and there. Good Luck! Debra French
