For the life of me I can't find a list of what vitamins that I will need after surgery. Does anyone know where I might find this information or would anyone mind giving me an idea of what you needed? I know its kinda like putting the cart before the horse but I've got to have EVERYTHING here and ready when I get home as I won't have any help besides my 4 year old, Dr David .... Also wondering if anyone started the vitamins before surgery and if they helped? I found a place where I can get like the 3 B's in liquid, my hormone med is in a cream called "HAPPY PMS" , Protein shakes and so much more. The price isn't bad and they will ship to you. The lady there is wonderful. Thanks Sheila

Here's what my clinic says: * Multivitamins * Vitamin C * Calcium * Vitamin B12 * Coenzyme Q-10 Calcium should be taken in the form of calcium citrate (not calcium carbonate that is poorly absorbed). Vitamin B12 can be taken either by injection once a month or sublingual tabs used daily to weekly depending on individuals lab work.

Also, 60 mg (I think) of iron.

Hi Sheila, That would be something to ask your surgeon. He may have specific vitamins or type of vitamins that he wants you to take as well as specific kinds of protein. Each program/surgeon is different so what I had to do may not be what you will have to do. Chris

Thanks for the information, for right now I'm taking the womans one a day plus doing 1000 mgs of B-12, on a reasonable diet ( baked or broiled nothing fried, watching the starches) plus I have to eat calcium chews three times a day. My mind is so ready for this journey but I worry that if my body isn't ready that I might have a harder longer recovery time. I have already cleaned out the cupboards, have the household on sweet-N-low ( not that they are liking it) , tryin to get off the caffine and quit smoking now but man it's hard.

Sheila, I looked at your profile and unfortunately I dont know your surgeon or center so I can't answer how they do things with vitamins and or protein. I would suggest you contact the nutritionist or be patient. And taking vitamins now is perfect, everyone should take vitamins... Brenda

Hi Sheila....sounds like you are ready and waiting..getting prepared is a great thing to do..But, as stated here don't waste your money on vitamins and protein before hearing from your docs office. Some are very strict with what you take. I work with some offices as a Bariatric Advantage consultant..my offices have patients on a beginner set of vitamins..as far as protein I find that most are pretty open with what you consume while others only want you on certain ones. Not to mention your taste will change so much after. All that you buy may end up thrown away. I didn't look at your profile to see which surgeon you have..that may tell me something. If I can help you out with vitamin or protein questions, just email me. Brenda [email protected]

Hey Sheila.. I am not for sure where you are having your surgery, but at my clinic( St. Joe's East) they have bari pak vitamins. All your vitamins are in a pack, you take one pack in the morning and one at night. Also you have to take a iron pill sometime during the day. It cost like 35.00 per month for all your vitmains (including the iron). Miranda
