Need help!
Hi Jeff,
Honestly, every bandster seems different. I can eat popcorn and salad. However, I have a really hard time with bread, dry meat (chicken, steak). I got really sick once after eating a salad with chicken in it because I couldn't chew it well enough. Usually, salads go down really well. As far as the constipation goes....WATER WATER WATER. Make sure you are getting in your liquids!!! If that doesn't work, MOM works wonders. I am lucky that I don't have that problem (I did after surgery) but I drink lots of liquids.
Hope that helps
Mimi
Hi Jeff, I am familiar with the program at Gtown..I know there are people who can answer your question and help you out. Are you aware the Gtown has their own message board, which is monitored by their nurse, dietician and others at the center?
I will send a note to them and ask them to send you this information.
good luck!
Brenda
oh and by the way Jeff, I didn't mean to sound like we don't want you to ask questions here..of course we do...so please do not stop.
I only wanted you to know that your surgeons offiice is just a type away.
If you hear from them about an answer, please post it here for others to read..don't leave us in the dark as to the answer or the solution to your problem..we are always here for each other. No matter the doc, the procedure or even the state..

Hi Jeff...
You need to be on the Georgetown Bandsters message board, a support website specific to our patients and their needs. You can email me directly for more info at: [email protected]
There are no forbidden foods. Obviously, there are ceratin things we want you to limit, but nothing is forbidden as it is the qauntity and how often you eat something that makes the differance.
All band patients have differant tolerances when it comes to food. Bread, pasta, rice and anything with a skin can be difficult. Remember: small amounts, taking small bites chewed very well. The constipation could be related to something else besides what you ate like multi vitamins, calcium supplements or other medications. Do try to get in 64 ounces of fluid daily. Call Ciara, our bariatric dietcian if you need more help at: 502.570.3717
