program fees
Once again, this post is sort of directed at ex-Dr. Bolar patients, but I am hoping someone might be able to help me out with this.
Can someone explain to me why it is necessary to pay a second "program fee" when having to switch to another surgeon? Especially someone who is 4 yrs post op - been there/done that? I'm already a member of 2 support groups, I've already met with 3 different dieticians, I've been to a psych eval, I've even had my plastic surgery. (For those of you who are unfamiliar w/ Dr. Bolar, he was located in Georgetown/Lexington, and has relocated to Tennessee.)
I am having medical issues with my pouch. I've been told my stoma was slightly bigger than it should be, I've gained 12 lbs in 2 weeks (after maintaining for 3 years, and not eating more than usual) and I've been having bad pains in my upper-left tummy area (I've previously had scar tissue problems, adhesions, hernias, and a bowel obstruction.) I need medical help. Not a support group. Not a dietician or an "exercise" instructor. The last thing I care about right now is "how much protein I'm getting in per day" - Yes, those things are important - but my concern is to find out what's wrong with me and have it fixed.
Basically - have any of you had to pay the program fee twice? Had to pay it *after* wls? This is just really frustrating...I could have something seriously wrong, but am probably going to have to go without treatment.

I had to pay Dr.Neighberts office fee again, and i was Bolars patient,i had to pay 250$ and i must say i am one of those with alot of complications, adhesions, bowel obstructions, eating issues, refluxing so bad that i cant talk. But i would call and ask all docs around lex and louisville and see if they charge. I no that i had a heck of a time finding a doc. And i need another surgery now and i wont go till i have a complete blockage..............please dont weight to late.

I've been told by my gastric bypass surgeons office manager that he has taken some of Dr Bolar's patients and there is no program fees, just regular office co pay.
Dr Shina in Louisville is my surgeon. If u r interested heres the number
502-899-7620, ask for Holly, she's his wife, nurse, office manager and a wonderful lady. He is one of the best surgeons out there in this field. Good luck and I hope u get a dr soon and find out whats going on.
