I Woke Up During My Colonoscopy Today!!

OMG!!!! I actually woke up during the colonoscopy today and thought I would die!! They did finally get me back under, but it took a little while!! What an experience!!

I've known several people that were not put out for this. They were not happy campers.

Ive heard about this also. I was told you are never totally out but the medicine makes you forget. Sounds awful. So sorry for that experience. Good luck Jane

I woke up during my colonoscopy I had done a couple years ago. I must admitt it was a little weird to wake up and all you see on the monitor is your inside being displayed. I dozed back off before they finished but I know several people who have done that. Michael

okay you guys are scaring me now. I have to go back in Thursday to have the EGD done again to check on the stricture area. I guess to make sure it has healed and isn't growing back over. I know that the ****tail they give for this is really just an amnesia shot. but still I wouldn't want to come to reality with that damn tube and ballon down my throat.... especially if he has to cut me again.

I did wake up during my 2nd EGD and remember hearing Dr Gelrud tell them to give me something. I must have been grabbing at the tube because the nurse was grabbing my hands and talking to me, telling me they were almost done and to hold on for just a sec and I would be asleep again. The EGD was the easiest of all the things I have had to go through. Good luck!

Ryan you will do just fine, the doc you have specializes in this kind of thing..so don't worry..Besides you will have the same doc as last time, correct? want me to come hold your hand?? lol I have been in the procedure room when others have had this one..when you begin to wake up you usually start gagging...but within seconds they can have you back under.

When I had mine done I never went to sleep at all. The Dr. had the nurse give me the meds three times I just could not go to sleep so had it done eyes wide open They told me I would sleep all afternoon. Wrong again was awake most of the night. But I seem to do this when I get things on my mind and believe me this was on my mind
