My surgery date is May 30 ...
My surgery date is May 30 ...it is @ St. Luke West; scheduled @ noon, so I'm not completely sure what time I have to be there.
Will be busy until then with the kids finishing up school, working & getting ready for a garage sale my mom and I planned. I also have a follow up abd CT scan next week, so I get to drink the yummy readi cat!
(I've wanted to use the barf face! Now I got a chance! Hope I don't get a lot of chances to use it in the near future!)
I am SO THANKFUL for Dr. Sonnanstine's office staff. It seems like the front end insurance company workers were really giving me the run around, but Kristine already had it filed and approved. I have read some horror stories on the boards about insurances being filed badly/slowly, but I can say that Kristine must know what she is doing. I fully expected to get denied the first time and just hire an attorney to do the appeal to save me some stress, but she got it through on try number ONE.
I think we all know that is an impressive feat that saves the patients (and probably the office staff too) a lot of frustration and tail chasing.
And BTW...despite what the notebook says (that Sonnanstine's group gives you) about not calling to check on insurance status, Kristine says she has NO problem whatsoever if people want to call and check on that; I believe she said about once a week. She will not feel pestered and will get back to you as soon as she can.

Melanie, they usually want you there about 2 hrs. ahead of time...for registration then in same day surgery to prep..I am sorry I am working on Wed. or I would be there to walk you through the morning...I use to attend both Mon. and Wed...but I work at Bethesda hospital on Wed. now...good luck!!!

Congratulations! I know this has been a pretty stressful process for you as I've read your posts (oops, did I just admit that I'm a lurker???)
I'm sure you already know that you have the best surgeon and you can rest in that knowledge!
So, have the nerves set in? This was about the time that I was very nervous, then I settled as the time got closer. On the day of surgery they wanted me there 2 hours before time so they could do prep (IV, blood pressure, etc,) and I actually was so excited, the nerves just disappeared! Then when I saw Dr. S and Taryn, if there was any fear left, it was gone. All I thought of was "Thank God that I'm so blessed to be able to have this surgery and that Dr. S is my surgeon!" I drifted off looking at his smile and woke up (what felt like a second later) looking at his smile. As soon as my eyes opened he started talking to me about how well the surgery went and that I'm doing great. What an awesome doc we have!
I'm sending prayers and great vibes your way for an uneventful surgery and quick recovery!

Hey I will be there with bells on. I don't go back to work for at least a day after you have surgery. So I will stay up and joke with you and your family. Is Sherryl going to be there that way I know who to joke with just yet. Since we haven't had a chance to meet.
WRite out notes for Dr. Tom he had a huge laugh when I did that to him for my surgery. I wrote a note for him and then a note to the OR nurses asking them to be gentle when they did my cath. Later!
