Sarcodisis or Cancer in Lungs???????

I had to have the pre ops done with the Pulmonary doctor. I am not a smoker and I have never had any problems with my lungs. During the x ray the doctor found some markings on my x ray around my lungs. He thought it might be sarcodisis so he did a biopsy and it came back negative for sarcodisis and cancer. So now he wants a cardiothrocis doctor to perform a more invasvive biposy, whi*****ludes taking a piece of my lung to still check for cancer. I have to have this done or he wont approve my gastric bypass. I was just wondering if anyone out there has every had this happen and if you did could you please give me some information?  Thank you so much Cindy Smith

Zindra, So sorry to hear of the troubles your having. I am very surprised that they did a biopsy on you. My lung Dr. said you never touch the lung if at all possible. He said sometimes people just have a spot and they never know why. I had a cat scan done looking for a blood clot and they found a spot. I had to have a scan every 90 days. Then sure enough six months later they said it had started to look like cancer. I had to have the top part of my lung remove for cancer. they caught it so early I did not have to take any treatment of any kind. Thank God. They told me I was so very lucky. that was five years ago. I still see a cancer Dr.about every six months now. It also show that I had sarcodisis. He said this area we live in is why alots of birds around here. But told me not to worry for it was not that much in my lung. I will be praying for you and if I can be of any help please let me know. my surgery date is set for June 18th cant wait to be a loser. 

Thank you so much Cynthia O. I appreciate your prayers. I just heard from another lady about having a pet scan done. I am going to suggest to the pulmonary doctor to do a pet scan. I hope he wll. That will rule out anything. I dont believe it is cancer. How did you get lung cancer? Did you smoke? I dont smoke. My dad has cancer and I had a brother die of cancer when he was 15. I hate to say it but yes I did smoke at one time I had quit smoking three years before I got it. Both of my parents died of cancer and were not smokers. Dumb me someone told me if I smoke I would lose weight. The stupid things we do and believe to lose. I had been thin all of my life but at 45 I started to gain and it drove me crazy. Now I just wish I was the weight I was when I thought I was fat. Now I really hope he does a scan for you. It was in the news short time back that is what they want to start doing to catch it very early If insurance will go along with it. Goos luck and please let me know.

I had to go to the doctor today and I have to have a procedure done where they will go into my chest and take a piece of the mass to test it. I will be having that done next thursday. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers. Cindy

Hi there I had preops three years ago and was told i had spots on my lungs  I did a lot of research and the pulmonary dr did a cat scan every 3 months for a year then 6 months and a year. Nothing changed and another lung dr told me that ky is a common place to get that bird thing that puts spots on your lungs.. i too am suprised they biopsied you...  have you considered getting a second opinion????
