I don't know if I shared this with all of you or only e-mailed a few people and told them but after my wls, I decided I wanted to go into the nursing field and work with weight loss patients.  I'll be a year out on June 5th and this past Monday I started college at the ripe old age of 45.  I hope to get into the nursing program and will apply before October 1 of this year.  I am taking some of my pre-requisite courses now and really hope I can make a high grades in here.  I won't accept lower than a B but am aiming for an A.  If I get a C, I will repeat the class.  I hope to go to Saint Joseph East in Lexington after I become an RN.  I don't know if I'll make it through college or not and if I do, I don't know if St. Joseph will hire me but this is my goal.  I just wanted to share. Gale, that's great!!  Good for you!  You deserve to do what you want to do with your life.

I've gone through something similar since my surgery in November.  I knew I wanted to go back to school and finally found what I want to do....surgical tech.   I'm starting in the fall so that I have time to save some money for tuition over the summer.   I'd love to work with bariatric patients as well, but I'm interested in the career no matter where I end up.    Again...congrats to you for making such a wonderful decision!  I wish you all the best!

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your replies but I've been quite busy with studies.  Lots of material to learn in the summer semester.  I'm loving school and learning quite a bit too.   Chris, I'm with you on just loving the field.  I've wanted to be a nurse for many years but was unable to go back to school because of family obligations.  I hope to work with weight-loss patients but will be happy where ever I can be placed.  I do want to work in hospital though.   I have to run.  I've been studying for lab and lecture exams in Anatomy and have a birthday party to attend in 45 minutes for my oldest granddaughter.  Gale
