HI!!! welcome aboard!! I did have my RNY at St Joe's East and though I really think all the Dr.'s there are great I choose Dr. Steiner! ANd I have to say I made a great choice...there are many on here that have been there and we all have our favorites and all 3 Dr.'s are very good, and very qualified....I just like Dr. Steiner for what specific reason I dont really know..but he has been great!! I have called at very odd times and he has been ever so polite and ever so helpful (as has all the staff at st. joe's) Good luck on whom ever you choose.....I dont think you could go wrong with any one of them...just make sure its right for YOU...met with them all if you want...thats what they are there for.....and go with your gut!! GOOD luck on your choice and your WLS!!!!!!

Just a small tidbit of information when searching for a surgeon..look at his training and credentials then compare. For example Dr. Steiner is a fellowship trained bariatric surgeon. He is also the youngest of the group which tells me he is most likely the best in laparoscopic surgery. testimonials from other patients of course plays a huge part as well. Remember when meeting a surgeon you have every right to interview him. Ask questions about his stats, etc. Most surgeons are very open about that. good luck! Brenda
I am a patient and St. Joes East; so welcome fellow SJE'er! My surgeon was Dr. Steiner and I don't regret for one second having him as my doc! He has a fantastic bedside manner and has admitted he is very anal about the care of his patients.
When I first met with him, I was impressed by his candor and his ability to immediately make me feel at ease with my choice. I did ask him if he had ever lost a patient on the table. He was honest with his answer and told me he did lose one and why. He explained the risks and that he will do 110% in making sure I'd be in excellent care.
He kept his word as I've had ZERO complications! My surgery was done lap and my scars are completely healed and hardly visible. On my husband, you have to really look to see his. (he too had WLS with Doc Steiner)
I like all the surgeons at SJE, but am partial to the doc. I'd go with him. :)
Good luck and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
