Hi Cheryl. I wish I had better help, but I use the Body Fortress too. I like the chocolate and vanilla, but I use soy milk because I can't do the lactose. What if you cut down the amount of milk you're using? I think you can mix it in as little as four ounces. Add a little water to smooth it out some more? That would cut down on the sugar from the milk. I'm not sure what other supplements you use, but I know some of the "bars" can be higher in sugar. The Atkins friendly bars would be a way around that. Not that they taste as good though LOL Good luck finding what you need! ~Kat

I use the Body Fortress as well and mix it with soy milk to reduce the sugar and carbs. Soy has 1 carb for 8 ounces of milk with only 70 calories.  A BIG difference from any milk product.  Other than that, my main protein is fish and canned tuna (with mustard as I can't tolerate mayo). Fish is really high in protein and so you don't have to eat much to reach your goal. One can of tuna is 26.5 grams in less than 3 ounces. I add just a little honey mustard to season and eat it. Not the best stuff in the world, but a far cry better than most of the bars and shakes out there.

Cheryl, When I looked up the net-carb count for an apple, it read that 1/2 of a medium apple only has 8 net-carbs. Is Amanda telling you to count only net-carbs or all carbs? I'd be curious to know. I'm having problems with low blood sugars and feelings of not feeling satiated after I eat. This is compounded by fatigue and has me worried that I'm eating to much. I am up to 100 net-carbs a day and that has me concerned. I've still been losing weight, but it's been slow going. These are net carbs from food that are good for us, but still, my mind set is saying whoa--this is too much. I do the Body Fortress too, but not as a shake. I take a 1/2 cup of Koshi almond protein cereal, top it with 1/2 cup of Dannons Fit and Lite (it's no sugar added) yogurt that I've mixed in a half a scoop of protein (the body fortress) and then top that off with a 1/2 of cup of strawberries. This is a total of 21 net-carbs. In the mornings, with my coffee, I do a Pure Protein bar which only has 3 net-carbs. I did start drinking my Proti-hot chocolate again, because of the satiety issues. I take a serving of that and have around 2Tbsps of PB along with it. I had been avoiding the PB because of the calories, but it seems to help with the sugar issues. Those are the AP (artificial proteins) Mike and I have been using. I hope that helps. Dee

HI DEE!!     YEa I think you count the NET carbs.....(almost positive thats what Amanda said)   and yea she did say that the more carbs in take in the slower my loss will be....she told me that at my stage out I needed to keep it around 50 carbs a day!      So  today has been better......but I havent eaten yet! lol      but I went to the grocery and boy has that been a job!!     I didnt realize how many carbs I take in in a days time until I started really looking!    I also was trying to find a good carb control yogurt....well I found one that had very fee carbs but I didnt realize that most yogurt has sooooo many!!!      but I am going to try that for breakfast w/fruit in the morning...maybe that will help!!    I am for sure going to keep a closer eye on my carb intake I really want to have a few good weeks of loss soon and this isnt working!

OH yea..And she told me to make sure that I am not eating and drinking at the same time and not to be drinking my carbs....so thats my concern because I am getting way to many in my Choc drink I have in the morings.....I mix it like HOt ****but I did find a diet swiss miss that only has 3 net carbs which will be 5 total so that a couple times a day should help as long as I can find something else I like!    thanks for all the help!!!

Yeah, the fruit can be kind of tricky with the net-carbs. I didn't realize either how many carbs were in yogurt, but yeah I suppose it's the fruit and dairy in that too. I think the thing to remember is that you're not stuffing empty carbs or bad carbs into your body. You're eating a well balance diet with good carbs that will help metabolize your sugars. Another thing you might want to consider, as I had to when I had a slow weight loss and my first weight loss stall is I was getting in too much artificial proteins. I was eating a full balance diet *and* eating 60-100g of artificial protein a day. I was getting in over 160-180g of protein a day; it slowed down my weight loss or so we figured. I ended up cutting back the artificial proteins, thus cutting down my overall intake to around 100g's a day. It helped, I started losing weight again. I'm still in a slow weight loss pattern, but I'm still losing which is what's more important to me. I don't know if the above applies to you, (you could call Amanda and maybe ask) but it's food for thought for what it's worth. Good luck Cheryl-- Dee
