Surgery Scheduled Now what?
Well I finally have a date....July 30. Now how do I make it through these next 47 days!!!! I am nervous one minute, scared, happy, excited the next. Anyone have any suggestions or Ideas on how to better prepare and be ready and just make through this wait without going crazy? Also it's been awhile since I took the nutrition class, I forget what kind of protein I liked and how much to get, and where to get it from, anyone ideas? Will they go back over that at all with me, I am so afraid I won't know what to eat or when to eat it....Help!!!
Dont buy to much of anything especially protein ..taste change after surgery.... I have seen more protein traded after surgery than playing cards lol.... dont freak out lol relax and breathe.... its a nice ride if you dont panic..... I went on a diet ...lost 50 lbs before.... walked and exerszied ..use this time to prepare.... youll be glad you did.....

Dr. Tom's staff is wonderful, you know you can call them with any questions. When I got my date I felt like I won the lottery. Really the time will fly by. Do like Ron Said. Get moving as much as you can it will help when you have the surgery and start walking. Get use to the water. Try the diffrent flavor waters. I too would wait until surgery. I used the carnation and unjury but then I found the body fortris at Walmart and its alot cheaper and I like it. I am 20months out and I still do a protein shake about every morning. I spent alot of time here on OH looking at the before and after pictures. I would look for people who weighed what I weigh and then I could see it. Also on OH there is a group just like Kentucky but its all people having surgery in July. That is alot of help. You can see how everyone is doing and who is having surgery the same time as you. Most of all just take time for you. The journey has begun. I would do it all over in a heart beat. Dr. Tom is wonderful, he is the best. He has done 4 members of our family we have lost about 500lbs. We can't change our genes but hopefully we are changing our futures.

Hi Pam!
I agree with Ron and Jane.....get into a routine now of exercising and drinking water. Make things that you're going to have to do after surgery a habit now and it'll be easier for you after surgery.
About the protein.....get out the notebook that you got from the center. It has info on all the stages and what is appropriate to eat. Also, if I remember correctly, they give out sheets at the taste testing of the types of protein and it had a place for you to write comments on whether you liked it or not. That might help you remember what you did and didn't like. I used Unjury after surgery. It's 17 scoops for about $18 or $19. Lately I've been using Isopure. You can get either one online or you can also get the Isopure at GNC. Just make sure you get the Low Carb Isopure. When I went, I told the girl at GNC that I'd had Gastric Bypass and she knew exactly what I needed.
