Gatorade
Ok, a couple of questions and an observation:
Observation: I was told that my tastes would change after surgery and boy did they. I used to drink Crystal Light 24/7, now can't stand the stuff. I've begun drinking tea.
Question: Gatorade has been going down pretty well and has a decent taste, is this ok to drink or are there too many bad things in it?
Question: Is there an average weight loss by month post op? I'm concerned that I"m not losing fast enough based on my intake and activity level. I'm 2.5 months post op and I've lost 55 lbs. I'm getting nervous that I may need to be doing something more.
Ok, all you wise ones that respond to all questions.... help me, please.
Thank you!
P.S. I thought about asking how to get the ticker on my profile but you kind people have answered that question more than once, so I'm going to give you a break.
Happy 4th
Hello there!
My tastes have changed, somewhat. I've noticed now that I can eat the same food for a few days and not get tired of it (which is strange)... I can't stand Crystal Light either. I drink that WalMart SF grape and fruit punch drink.
I think the occasional gatorade is OK. I wouldn't drink it as a main source of fluid though because of the calories in it (only 50 but they will add up quickly) and the sugar (14g) may cause you to dump. I hear of a lot of surgeons preferring patients to drink 0 calories, 0 sugar drinks .. Mostly because the fluid is supposed to give you the sensation of fullness without actually adding in calories/carbs, etc. I guess drinking gatorade is at your own discretion though. Have you tried Propel (10 calories/ 8oz serving, 3 carbs and 2 g of sugar - not bad at all)? I like the grape flavor.
I read a lot over on the main board and the general consensus is that a loss of 10 lbs per month is about right for the first year. I think 55 lbs is an awesome loss. I wanna congratulate you on that.. I think in the beginning we're all a little scared that we aren't losing fast enough, aren't getting enough calories/protein/fluid whatever the case may be..
Anyway sorry for the long reply... I do hope this helps..
Katrina :-)
PS. About your ticker - all you have to do is copy it from a website like http://www.thetickerfactory.com onto your Profile. For some reason that code doesn't work.. As long as you copy and paste it to your profile it'll be there.
