Hi! I'm new to the board and really need to have this surgery. I know that the lap band is less expensive than gastric bypass, but having no insurance they both seem out of reach. I weigh 330lbs and my BMI is 52, so I know that I must do something soon if I want to be around to see my children grow up. Does anyone have any knowledge of any financing options that are out there for someone that does not have insurance and not the best credit. We rent, so taking out a second mortgage is not an option either. Thanks ahead of time for your help. Stephanie

If you belong to a credit union... most of them have signature loans. Capital One has health care credit Beneficial.com Wellsfargo.com Both of them loan money to those with less than perfect credit..  (trust me, I know) lol Good Luck!

Hi there! I am new to the board and my insurance covers the procedure, but they will only pay $5000.  I am in the same situation as you because they just submitted the claim and I'm already roughly $20,000 in the hole.  I am GAWKING at the bill (I just had the lapband 6/28/07).  I already refinanced my truck with wellsfargo, they gave me an additional $8,000 and my credit isn't the most noteworthy.  So, definately check with them, they are pretty good, I called them on a Monday, and signed on Tuesday and I walked out of there with the check.  So, it is possible!!! And good luck with everything! Crystal
