I am trying to finish up my papers before my surgery that are due in my summer psychology class. I have all but one paper done and that is where I need you all. I have to get people to give me their definition of 1) crazy  2) insane  3) emotionally ill  4) mentally ill. Then I need for you to describe behaviors that characterize each term. I will not use your name, this is a generalization of what people think. Please, any and all help is greatly appreciated as I have to turn all papers in at my next class on Monday 7/9 (surgery is 7/16).  We are also having a test over 8 chapters on 7/9 and then I plan on returning to class on 7/23 and taking the last two exams over 12 chapters.  Man oh man, what did I get myself into???? Many, many thanks for any and all help you all can give me.  Blessings to all.

Assuming these are all different by characteristic, here are my definitions: Crazy - The condition of being illogical. A person deemed crazy may have difficulty communicating and relating to "normal" people as well as living a day-to-day life. Insane - The condition of being outside the realm of sanity. An insane person would have a far different outlook on lots of aspects on life than someone deemed as sane.  This condition may or may not affect their ability to live & survive normally in society. Emotionally ill - As opposed to mentally ill, the condition of being unaware of how to deal properly with one's own emotions. Someone who is an emotional wreck and unable to control their emotions. See: Bipolar. Could go through a wide range of emotions in a short period of time. May have vocal outbursts or completely the opposite. Mentally ill - The condition of being unable to function normally due to biological causes. Someone that lacks the capability to understand and reason normally. May or may not be emotional.

Thanks for the one reply.  There is no wrong or right answer for these, it is just to see how people perceive these words.  We all think differently about words and what they mean.

1)  crazy - people that do strange things, that only you think is okay.  Behavior that characterizes can be anything from logical to out the window but it is only prefaces by what I feel is crazy. My definition. 2) insane - ones that are out of their heads to the point that they do things without realizing and then can not completely understand. Ones that can not make a distiction between right and wrong 3) emotionally ill - ones that use their illness to extreme.  Hyprochodriacs thinking that they have every type of illness. 4) mentally ill - ones that cant help their illness it is a birth defect. people that speak to themselves saying the same thing over and over, just plain out of it.
