Hey, has anybody had their surgeon tell them that they must eat a low carb diet after you have the LapBand? My doc stressed to me to do a low carb diet, but thats part of the reason I chose to get the lapband done in the first place.. so I don't have to go on some crazy diet plan! lol. But, I know from experience it works,.. but its just too hard for me to stick too! anybody else doing the low carb/high protein way of eating?!? If so, let me know how its working for you!! :) Thanks!!

Hey girl! Not sure about lap band, however my Dr told me with the RNY that it would be low carb all the way. SO far so good since I am down 148 pounds or so. It has just been a matter of implementing that life style change. I have tons of recipes..I think I sent you a few via myspace. Let me know if you want anymore!

Hello, I had the lap band done 11/2006 with Dr. Thomas Sonnanstine.  He NEVER told me to go on a low carb diet after surgery.  They want me to eat protein, fruits, and veg and then starches if I have room for it.  I will tell you that I can not eat bread or potatoes b/c they get stuck.  Once you have had something like that stuck, you will NEVER do it again.  I try to stay away from sweets/chips things like that.  I guess if you were to step back and look at the diet we have you could say that it is a little bit like a low carb diet.  Sugar free, hi protien.  I guess a little more like the south beach diet.  The main point that they drove home to me was to eat right.  Low fat, lean protiens, fruits, veges, low sugar and lots of water.  I know every Dr. is different.  Just eat right and be healthy.  Of course you will have days when you want to sit down and stuff your face.  You will and you will pay for it.  We all have.  I promise you will never do it again. It is a love/hate relationship.  There are days when I hate this damn thing, but I love the new life that it has given me.  Good luck to you!  You will be in my thoughts.  Let me know if you have any questions about the surgery and after.  I have lost 55 lbs.  I know you will do just fine. Jenn
