A New Surgery Date
Well, I went back & saw my surgeon. I explained to him the feelings I got the day before the surgery and why I cancelled that morning (7/16). He talked to me more about the lap band & the gastric bypass and explained some things to me I did not know. He was very understanding. I am going to go ahead with the gastric bypass and am scheduled on 9/24. I had to go to the back of the line (which is ok with me). I have to be at Nortons at 7:30 a.m. on 9/24.
Please pray for me that I will do ok this time.
Blessings to all.
Having surgery is not an easy to come by decision and you should never ignore your instincts. I'm glad that you went back to your Dr. and explained your feelings. It's even better he understood and agreed to take you on another date.
Good luck to you and try not to fret. Remember having feelings of anxiety are completely normal and not uncommon. I had second thoughts the moment the ansethsia (msp I know) went into my arm.
I wrote about my surgery in my profile and one of the last thoughts I had before I went out was "I changed my mind."
Next thing I know, I'm being awoke and the first thought then is, "I can't believe you went through with it."
I'm 11 months out and down almost 125 pounds. I feel great and don't regret the surgery one iota. I pray the same will be true for you too.
You might want to ask them to give you a stronger sedative before surgery to help you stay calm; just a thought.
Good luck--
Dee
