Well, I only have one week to go before surgery! I am so excited and nervous! Any advice would be appreciated. What do you suggest I take to the hospital and what do I need to buy to have at home? Seems like I have been reading many post about people getting really sick after surgery. This is starting to scare me. Keep me in your prayers please. Thanks & God bless--Gerri

What to take: 1. A robe if one is not supplied at your hospital 2. Non-skid house shoes 3. Socks 4. Hairbrush/comb, toothbrush/paste 5. Hair tie (if long hair) 6. Hand-held mirror 7. Chapstick & lotion 8. Extra pillows to go beneath your arms (in case they're not supplied by the hospital) I recommend wearing loose-fitting clothes into the hospital the day of your surgery. You can wear those same clothes home. I also recommend... Don't overpack! You'll probably just want to sleep the entire time. I will be thinking of you when you have your surgery. =) Good luck!

Least is better, I think.  Chap stick was a must but my hospital provided everything else.  I used their gowns and they reversed the gown to make a robe.  Couldn't use mine because shoulders needed to open for IV.  My hospital provided socks with skids on them.  I took my own tooth brush and tooth paste but the hospital even provided that.  I took DVD and never used it.  I took puzzle Books never used it.   The best thing I can advise is maybe take a really big cotton gown to wear home.  Panties and bra was uncomfortable for me.  I wan't sick at all after my surgery but my doctor gave us medication in our IV.  No Vomitting was aloud!!! Thats what he said but I am sure people do.  Good luck.  Its normal to be very nervous.  It was the best thing I have ever done.  I know it has saved my life. Good luck and I will be praying for you,  I took stuff to the hospital that was useless, for example magazines....yeah right that wasnt happening. I took houseshoes, but they put socks with non skid bottoms on me as soon as I gt there. Chapstick is a must, and toothbrush and a brush...thats all I used and something very comfortable to wear on the way home.....Good luck and God Bless. Missy
