the thing with people looking and you and etc. I have a fiancee and we have bee ntogether a few years, anyways I am afraid if I do lose the weight he may become a little possessive, he says not, but one time I lost 60 pounds, and he kinda acted different, you know what I mean, I guess he thinks keep me fat and he don't have any worries, lol. I am not planning on changing who I am, just hoping people sees me in a different light, I feel like a different person on the inside than I am on the outside, I want people to see me for who I really am, does that make sense?     where do you live at? I am in eastern ky. I may have to try and make it to the October meeting..

I live about 40 minutes east of Ashland in WV.  I had to follow the low fat diet that the Nut gave me. We were told at the mandatory class that we should be following it for a least the last two or three weeks I think.  I went through my paper work and I can't find what I had to do, but I think couldn't eat 24 hours before surgery and had to do the bowel prep. I think it was liquid diet the day before. Then nothing after midnight.  pan head

I survived my gall bladder surgery but at the time of surgery they also found a hernia. So I am extremly sore. I have a 10 year old son and a 16 month old daughter. I'm not suppose to lift of course for awhile but today it has been hard. My so called supportive husband left me this morning at 10:00 to go ride his harley. He has been gone all day long. I have been trying to limit my lifting with my baby but it is so hard. I just can't believe he has been gone all day long. He knows I can't do anything especially lifting. I have been so upset all day. That to me is just mean and him being self centered. I go back for a follow up on Oct.17th. I'm hoping to feel better soon. I know you didn't want to hear about my problems. I just needed to vent. Thanks, Steph

Hi greeneyes,

Dr. Wheeler did my RNY March 1, 2007, I have so far lost 117 lbs.  I am absolutely estatic and pleased with my decision about having surgery and the surgeon I chose.  It is hard at first, or it was for me, because even though I was not PHYSICALLY hungry, I was MENTALLY hungry.  LOL, haven't had a hunger pain since Feb.28th...I am so happy with my appearance, a lot of people don't recognize me now, either.  I went from a size 24 jeans to now a size 12 petite.  Just listen and follow all that they tell you, and you'll do fine. I had a hard time giving up soda, and still find myself wanting it, and to be truthful, from time to time, maybe once a month or so, I'll take a few sips of diet Mtn. Dew. Some things are just really hard to give up.  The sugar free fudgesicles will be your best friend for a few months, so stock up.  If you have any questions or just wanna chat, feel free to message me. Hope everything goes wonderfully for you...you are in good hand with Dr.Wheeler.

Hello,    Dr. Wheeler is my surgeon as well. I'm having gall bladder surgery on Oct.4th. Still waiting on a date for surgery. All my papers have been sent to my insurance company. My question is, what was the biggest hurdle you had to overcome? I stopped drinking diet coke (that was all I drank) on July 25th. I have been drinking different protein drinks and water/sugar free mixes. I've done good so far I've lost around 24.5 pounds. Do you do a lot of excercises? That there is my big down fall at the moment. My work is so stressfull and I have 2 children 10 and 16 months. Just curious. Regards, Stephanie

Hi Stepht, I think my biggest hurdle was admitting I couldn't do it on my own and deciding to pursue surgery. Then making up my mind I would do what ever it took to be successfull at this. I have tried to follow what Dr Wheeler and his staff have told me I needed to do. It has helped me to eliminate what I call the gray areas. I can eat any thing I want, but there are many things I choose not to, so I can make this work for me. I was a diet pepsi and fresca drinker. I followed Angie's advice and after my first visit with her in April of last yeat I quit both and started water and the SF drink mixes. Still haven't tried any yet. now that I have been off it for so long I doubt that I will start drinking it again.  Sounds like you are doing great on your pre-op diet. I lost 35 when I was on it. My highest was 375, I was 359 at my first consult with Dr Wheeler and 324 the day of surgery. I have been bouncing back and forth between 183 and 184.  I walk when I get a chance but I don't do on a regular basis. I really need to do better. I have been thinking about joining a gym lately, but haven't done it yet.

One of my biggest problems have been the scales. I want to weigh every day. I would suggest weighing weekly. I keep a journal, actually it is a monthly planner and record my weight weekly in it. It gives me a truer picture of my steady decline. The scales will go up and down every day. Also go by how your clothes feel as well. There have been times when the scales haven't seemed to move but I have dropped a pant size. I guess it is my body catching up.    Don't panic if you don't seem to get your water and protein in the first few days and even week or so. Everything will be swolen and healing. I had to work up to it. Keep track of it and work up to it. To me the liquid was the most important to keep track of. You don't want to get dehydrated.  That is my ramblings, hope it helps.  pan head
