Hello everyone,  I am 13 months post op and getting ready to move to Louisville in January for a new career opportunity. Hoping that you may be able to offer me some advise on the area.  1. Bariatric Physicians- I guess I will need a new physician to follow-up with.  2. Preschool's- I have a 4 1/2 year old son whom I would like to get into a good preschool. We do have a preference for a Christian Pre-school/School.  3. The school system- Any information you can provide me? 4. Churches- Any recommendations.  Looking forward to getting to know you all.  HUGS,  Christy

Hey Christy, Glad to hear that you are moving here. I love Louisville because there is so much to offer. After saying that, our public school system (Jefferson County Public) is not the greatest. I would look into traditional schools or even a private school. As far as churches and preschools go it all depends on the area of town you live in. So keep us posted on that.  My doctor is Dr. Shina. I really like him.  Good Luck with the move, Dannyell

Hi Christy,

The Louisville area is easily navigated from surrounding counties as well.  With 3 major interstates merging in Louisville you can get around pretty quic****il you have to use the surface streets. You may want to take a look at counties such as Oldham, Bullitt or even just across the river in Indiana.  I live in Oldham Co. and can be in downtown Louisville within about 20 minutes (25 when traffic is a little thick).  Parts of Bullitt Co. are about 20-25 minutes as well.  Just across the river in Jeffersonville IN is even quicker being less than a 10 minute drive.

Oldham Co. has a good reputation with their schools and test scores.  Clark Co. schools (Indiana)have a good rep as well.  Jefferson Co. has it's issues but I think a very involved parent makes a huge difference.  I don't know anything about Bullitt Co. Schools so I can't give any input on that although it is a more rural county if you'd prefer that. Odd as it may sound I've lived in all these areas at one point in time when growing up as my parents tended to be nomadic! Do you know what part of Jefferson Co. you'll be looking in?  What area is the new job? Becka

Although I am very familiar with Louisville as my husband's family is there and have spent a lot of time there, I'm not going to be much help. I do know the Jefferson cty schools aren't so great but there are plenty of good parochial schools. I myself am moving from MD to Lexington in January so we'll be practically neighbors! Good luck with the move and everything, Nancy.

Praise the Lard (and Crisco too!). Dog Bless my DS!

Not to step on any toes, but when you move to Louisville, you will find that Jefferson county schools are just as good as anywhere else, like any other city you have the good and the bad,,,but coming from a family of Jefferson county school teachers , I think Jefferson County schools are great....best of luck with your move. Missy
