KDMC

Hi My name is Gina. I just recently attended a seminar for King's Daughters in Ashland and plan on having my surgery there. I was wondering who else has had there surgery there or is planning to.

I had my RNY at KDMC (Dr. Wheeler) on 10/5/06.  I was very pleased with my treatment.  Everyone was caring and kind.  Since then, I have had a hernia repaired (Wheeler, KDMC) and plastic surgery (Rogers, KDMC) and I can only say good things about the facility and the staff and surgeons.  I wish the best for you!

 Hi Gina,    Iam getting ready to have the surgery with Dr, Wheeler and I feel good about him and his staff. My surgery isn't  set up just yet but should be this month, I hope. A friend of mine just had hers done last week and the surgery went fine, and she had a different dr. but seems to be doing fine. Just do some research and ask alot of questions and do what the dr says. I went to KDMC for eight months Medical Weight Loss Program. I had success with my weight loss. Although when I finally got approved the Doctor's wanted me lose another 150 pounnds before surgery. They did not tell me that in the begining. It was a Heart Breaker. The only thing I thing I can figure out is they want good numbers and are afraid of a larger person. I was in good health. No medical problems at all. 98 % percent Lung capacity, No heart problems, Diabeties so I that is my only conclusion I would ask them about it first. I almost  my Insurance over this. I went to Saint Josepth East. Dr. Nighbert. I went to him and he looked at me and told me no problem, The Bigger The Better. He was not afraid that is what this surgery is for. No Problems 220 Pounds down in a year. That is what I have to say about KDMC Weight Loss Program.

I went to a seminar with my sister who is also having surgery. She heard back from them soon, I have never had so much as a call or anything else. I called, and turns out, they don't accept my insurance. I guess since they could not get any money out of or for me, then I wasn't worth a minute of their time to let me know that I wasn't covered. I have moved on ,and I feel, for the better.

I had my surgery there 1 year ago. I could not be happier with Dr. Wheeler, his staff and the staff on the Surgical Weight Loss team. The treatment at the hospital was to notch. If given a choice I would not hesitate to go back to KDMC for what ever I need.  Dr. Wheeler required me to have a lot of testing and I ended up having to have a heart cath because of the stress test and he removed my gall bladder prior to surgery because of stones. The hospital really knows how to treat patients.  Like any thing I think you will be able to find people who have had good and bad experiences with KDMC. I have only had good. I chose Dr. Wheeler because of his record. I think he has such a good record because he is so cautious and does so much testing.

I would suggest you do all of the research you can and choose who you are willing to trust with your life, because you are. I did exactly what I was asked to do and I have had no complications at all.  pan head

Hello Gina,                  I had my Lap band placed on June 6th of this year. I have had no problems so far and I am down 64 lbs. I really like the way Kings daughters treat their paitents. They  were great to me during my stay. Dr. Thompkins is really nice and very informative. He listens and answers any question I may have. Are you going to go to their support group meeting on thursday the 13th of this month. The people there can give you some answers. Good Luck.
