I have all my tests done, and was told on the phone a week ago they had submitted for insurance approval. So what happens next?  When they get approval will they call me, or send a letter about my date? How much pain is there after surgery, and for how long is it really bad? I was told I'd be in he hospital 4 or 5 days, am I still going to be hurting a lot when I come home? If I'm on liquids for 2 weeks, does that 2 weeks start after the surgery, or when I come home? Where do I get that pretein powder? I have looked and looked, our local wal mart only has chocolate, and no one else close by me has it at all. Later on, a few months maybe after surgery can I substute soemelse for the protein powder? A friend who had lap band makes a shake with banana and peanut butter. maybe I should email the nutritnalist? I'm nervous and worried and everything all at once. I can't quite believe I am going to have surgery and lose weight until after it happens, if it happens. I've failed so many times, I just can't trust it now.

well i got a call from my surgeons office telling me i was approved. But i found out from my insurance co also they sent a letter within 2 weeks.I am 2 yrs out and the pain was bad but nothing i couldnt handle. I remember that i had to sleep setting up in the recliner for 2 nights. I was 260lbs at that time. I was in the hospital 2 days..........i was on liqiuds a month. All docs have different things ok. So we will all not agree. And i will tell you that 2 yrs out i get hungry and i do eat somethings that are just junk, but i live and learn, this surgery is not a cure just a tool and yes you can eat your way back up.................ive seen it done. Just put your faith in the lord and it will ok. If you need anything come on here and email me and this is a great site........................Vickie R.

I was told by my surgeon and then had to do all the other medical clearances then had my surgery. I get my protein from GNC but on the main forum there is a lot of information about on line companies you can order from. Don't buy in bul****il you find one you like. That can be expensive. I was in quite a bit of pain but obviously you can handle it. Definitely talk to the nutritionalist for ideas about your protein. It is totally normal to be scared and nervous. It is life changing. Good luck to you.

I waited two weeks then I called my insurance company.  I went to Vitalady.com and ordered samples of protein powder.  I really like the Syntrax Nectars they are fruit flavored and yummy, but I ordered the cappacino flavor today and some more samples.   I know you are nervous and can tell you that I have spent more time here on the computer doing research on surgery options, complications, nutrition and weight loss.  All that time has made me very comfortable with my decision and I still have a long wait ahead of me.  I am sure I will me nervous again as time gets closer but that kind of nervous is the normal kind. As long as you have done all your research and feel comfortable with your decision you can have some peace, just put it in God's hands.
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.
