caffeinated beverages
Hi All,
I wondered what your surgeons/dieticians have told you about caffeinated beverages like coffee and tea. I'm not a coffee drinker but I drin****d tea all the time a friend of mine who had RNY told me that she can't drink caffeine because it will irritate her pouch.
What do some of you do?

I was not told to avoid caffeine. I drink alot of iced tea but use decaf tea bags just because I don't need the buzz. I use fully loaded coffee though! No tummy problems here.
eta: decaf tea tastes the same to me!
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you. Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information. Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

I have a kidney problem and saw a nephrologist and will forever see a urologist. I was told not to drink caffeine..he didn't say much about coffee since I don't drink it at all..but was an ice tea drinker. He told me for every 8oz of tea I had to double ii in water to replace it...he told me tea is very harsh on the kidneys and if not properly hydrated can definately cause kidney stones..he has this little saying which I think is so cute.
"dilution is the solution"..lol
be very careful as warm weather and activities increase...your body is going to naturally need more water..but obviously chosing tea over water is not a good idea..use it more as a treat ...not as a water replacement..
hope this info helps
