I know we aren't suppose to eat nuts, but so many of the protein bars has nuts in them, does anyone that had gastric bypass eat nuts, or what is the outcome if you do eat them at this stage.  I would love to hear from all of you with youre comments. thanks Lisa

Lisa, my fiance eats dry roasted peanuts like they will never make them again. We get the large coffee can size ones at Sams and that typically lasts him a week. He is 17 months out. I am 3 weeks out & have eaten cashews and didnt have any problems. I just really wanted something salty that day. I probably only ate 7-8 but I chewed & chewed & chewed some more. -Tracy

I would be very careful when eating nuts..to chew yes..but also remember.  Nuts have lots of calories and fat.  If you can make oil from nuts then that's obvious.  Those babies can be addictive.  I have and will eat them as a treat..(not until I reached maintenance). But never do I keep them around to snack on them.  You will at some point find your weight loss slowing down or may not reach goal by adding high fat snacks. As for protein bars I feel the same.  I purchase them if I go on vacation.  But I try very hard not to use them as a meal replacement.  The protein though high in many bars isn't the same as what we can get from drinks and we need to learn healthy ways of eating-  when chosing those with nuts, caramel (the more candy bar type)  are going to be the highest in fat and calories..always remember to read your labels..I usually chose Atkins bars..ok maybe not the highest in flavor but I have kept most my weight off now for 6 yrs..by chosing what is best for my health. Good Luck!!

thanks for the info, it is greatly appreciated. the only time I eat the proten bars, is maybe if I am going to be out of the house all day, an no I don't want to gain my weight back ,I have lost about 74 pounds in the last 4 months. I looked at a protein bar, and it had like 350 calories, boy I just threw it back in the box, lol. I do try and watch the high calorie and fat stuff.                                                                                         Lisa

What kind of protein bars do you like?  I haven't found any I like so far but would love to have something high in protein and easily portable.  I buy the snack size packages of nuts from Costco in bulk so I can always have a snack in my purse but would love some other ideas!
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

well the snickers marathon bar, i think they are called is pretty good, and there is another one from walmarts that i got that was pretty good, but i cant remember the name, next time I go to walmarts i will try to look, i think it was met something. but am not for sure. the snickers is as follows, peanut butter, marathon low carb, lifestyle energy bar. 170 calories 7 grams fat sugars 1gram sugar alcohols 7gram protein 18 gram, net carbs is 3 i dont eat these very often ,because they are high in calories, and some of the bigger bars that boast 30 grams or more protein, are huge bars thay you can't eat at one time, and are full of calories.
