I am 10 days out from having RNY . I have lost 33 pounds!   But the mind hunger is KILLING ME!  I teach second grade so I am on summer break and stuck in the house! I find myself watching much more TV than normal. Everything on TV is FOOD! I am looking for any ideas to beat the mind hunger. (Mind Hunger) = All I think about is FOOD, I am 5 days from solid food but that is all I think about!! UGH..............

congrats. on the surgery, I never had that problem at all, maybe try different kinds of soup broth, something else that is good, is getting you a small sno-cone machine, and get you some sugar free syrup, gives you something crunchy to chomp on.    Maybe talk on the phone or play games on the computer, take a walk, start scrapbooking, find a friend to walk with you.     it may be mind hunger, I still get upset and depressed and try to turn to food, it is worse at night, so I try to stay busy, I am 4 months out, and you lost 33 pounds in 10 days, thats amazing, I have lost 77 in 4 months, just don't give up, don't give in to food. eat to live, not live to eat, is what I have done since I was 14 and now 44, lol. I have a different outlook on life now,. I want to go back to work, when I reach goal. I hate staying home, lol.     I know this may not help much, but I tried. Lisa

Thanks so much!  Today I started working on lesson plans and activities for next school year. It was better. Thanks again.

Congrats on your surgery!  Hang in there.  I remember having to deal with the mind hunger also at about 2-3 weeks out.  This, too, shall pass.  In the meanwhile, this evening it's less humid so it's a good evening for walking or even sitting outside.  Today, I cleaned out a couple of drawers- something I don't have much time for during the school year, and it helped keep me busy and productive.   Don't be too hard on yourself for sitting in front of the tv a little more.  Teachers need a little down time.  Before you know it, the summer will fly by and back to school we go.  Best wishes for great success!

I haven't had surgery yet but am worried about the same thing. Getting ready for surgery I have tried to get into gardening and have started reading more too. I teach also in Bullitt Co. so these first few weeks I'm just trying to catch up on doctor's appt. and house cleaning ( I'm really messy). I live in Jeffersontown so if you come to Louisville look me up and we can go shopping. I'm thinking of using Dr. Geller. Did you like him? He did the seminar I went to and seemed really nice. Hey if it gets too bad just keep on trying on clothes and see how big they are now! Thinking of you, Dana

I love, love, love Dr.Geller. He is a teaching Doctor. I never had one doubt about him or doing the RNY. He came in pre op and answered my 101 questions and then he sat with my Mom for 30 mins. after surgery and walked her through everything and what to expect for the next few months! He was in to visit both days I was in the hospital.I think everyone stays 3 days but I begged to go home the second and he let me! Once you have your office visit with him you will feel the same way! Thanks for the shopping invite! Give me a couple of months and I wil be ready to rip and run! Thanks  Marsha

Marsha, Lie down and put your feet up! Lesson plans in the middle of June- I think that's illegal if not immoral! Just think of all the comments you'll have from other teachers and the kids when you get back. What school do you teach at? I know Painted Stone and that's about it in Shelbyville. It good to know about Dr. Gellar. I'm like you I have a hundred questions about the surgery too. I'll have to make a list about what my husband should ask because he'll just sit there and say, "It went just fine" and that will be it. I assume you went to Surburban? Were you pleased with it as well? Are you at the so sore stage now? Talk with you soon. Dana

I teach at Claer Creek it's the "new" school, we are on the east end of town. I did have it at Surburban, ans it was very nice. I am not really sore at all. I have not taken pain meds for two days now! WOOHOO!  I feel better than I ever have! The only thing that really ever bother me was the JP drain tub, it's just in the way and feels wierd. Let me know if you have any questions that maybe I can answer. Take care, Marsha
