Just wanted to see what kind of problems or good things that people have to say about Humana and getting approved by them. Just want to hear others expierences with them. Just so I can know what to expect.

LC, I was 4 months into my 6 month required pre-op and was approved by Humana with no co-morbidities.  My surgeon's office called me with the good news.  I never really heard directly from Humana about the approval. Only difficulty with Humana (if you can call it that) was with the assistant surgeon's fee. Dr. Shina worked with an assistant surgeon that Humana did not recognize as "participating," and I was left with something like a $1400 assistant surgeon's fee.  I had to make call after call and finally appealed in writing to Humana, and they actually ended up coming through and paying the assistant's fee. So, I am now very happy with the Humana coverage. Here's hoping you hear something good from them soon! Elaine

Well I hope I have the good luck with them as you all did. I called them today and they told me to go ahead and turn in my packet so I could get started I did not know that Humana would maybe approve me before my 6 months were up. That would be great!

I was approved at 4 1/2 months.  I actually had my surgery before the 6 months would have been up.  I have had no problem at all with Humana. Laura

I had no problem with Humana.  I actually saw the surgeon for the first time March 7.  Had not seen the psych or nut.  or had a letter from my pcp.  I did have documentation from weigh****chers and my pcp that I could not tolerate meridia due to elevated bloodpressure.  The surgeon submitted everything to insurance on May 26 and by 1pm on May 27 I had approval, and am scheduled for surgery on June 30.  It was very smooth.  I spoke with the case manager at Humana a couple of times and she was very helpful and friendly.  Hopefully you will have as smooth a ride as I did.  Good luck  pam

You all are making me feel more confident now. I have been worried sick about getting approved thinking it is was going to be the hardest task yet. Now I am feeling much better about it. Thanks for all of the good wishes. I hope I slide right on through like you all have done!

I have Humana as well and am 3 mo. into the 6 mo. wait.  My BP, sleep apnea, and overall health, including my back are getting worse by the week.  How did you get it approved early....what steps did you take??
