This may be a completely silly question, but how are people getting medicaid to cover the costs of bariatric surgery? The reason I ask this is because I looked at what would qualify one for medicaid, and it's not a very broad spectrum of criteria. As it stands, I'll have surgery after I finish nursing school, after I find a job, and after I qualify for insurance.  Any help anyone may have would be greatly appreciated. If you'd like to email me, feel free at [email protected]. TIA!

employed by the office of family support.. there are people who meet criteria for medicaid eligibility... you need to contact office in your county ...with a few questions, etc...they might be able to point you in right direction...

Most people get Medicaid once they qualify for SSI. Some people get it if they are a single parent with little income.. Totally nothing wrong with it at all.. I couldn't have had surgery without it and quite frankly I would never have been able to afford to pay for insurance out of pocket. It is a real life saver for those who qualify for it...
