Holli, are you doing a supervised weight-loss diet for insurance purposes? Or are you just trying to lose as you prepare for surgery? It's frustrating to see the scale go up instead of down, and we've all been there, so know you aren't alone. My biggest changes before surgery were stopping drinking soft drinks (and I LIVED on Diet Mountain Dew!), taking tiny bites, chewing REALLY well, and starting each meal with 6-8 bites of protein before touching anything else on my plate (and BREAD had always been my first bites). I gave up pop in May before having my surgery in August, and I've never looked back. I drink only plain water and flavored water (using Walmart brand individual drink mixes). I always have a water bottle with me, and I drink at least 4 20-ounce bottles daily. I feel better than I have in YEARS, and I credit my WLS with my improved health. Hang in there! It will all be worth it! Kathy
