Just wondering after your first apt with the Dr. what happened from there? How long after that did you get a surgery date? I am not really sure what to expect after I have this first apt. Please help!

Normally after the first visit with surgeon, the office will start the approval process with insurance and once that happens then they will call and schedule you for pre op testing and then the surgery.   Depending on which Dr. you are using is to how long you will wait for surgery.

Dr Tanner gave me a sheet to give PCP for approval. On this she had to say I was healthy enough for surgery. Sent me to a cardiologist for testing and a pulmonolgist. I already knew I had sleep apenea so I didn't need to do that test again. When PCP received all of the test results she sent them to Dr Tanner who forwarded them on to my insurance for approval. That took over a month for me because insurance said they hadn't received all my records from PCP. PCP sent them again and I was approved in a couple of days. At that point second appointment was sceduled July 25. Pre 0p testing will be July 31 at Nortons with surgery on Aug 6. It could be faster or slower for you depending when all of the test approvals get into insurance and how long insurance studies them. Good Luck.

Your turn is coming up really soon! Congradulations! I am also using Dr. Tanner so I hope all my stuff goes fast as well.  I have been doing the 6 months supervised diet with my PCP. And I too have already had sleep test done so maybe that will speed it up as well. I am just getting very excited because I know my time is coming just gotta wait for it.

I was non-insurance for my procedure so it was a little quicker.  Basically, after that first appointment I had to get a cardio clearance which was scheduled for the following week.  During that time Brigette ran my insurance through for a formal denial (expected).  Once that came back we scheduled my surgery for about 2 or 3 weeks after the cardio.  I didn't have to have a second appointment with Dr. Larson which he now does require of his patients (I'm not sure if this is just a Larson thing or across the board).

Regardless, things should start moving quickly for you now!
