Yeah! 2 weeks post op today so tomorrow I can do the "mushies" My follow up with Dr. Allen isn't until Thursday ( cause its the only day he is there) Part of me wants to just wait until Thursday to start them.. But My husband thinks I'm crazy for waiting!!! lol...I'm alittle nervous about eating... I don't know why.. just am..

What were some of the things you all were eating in the mushy stage?????

THANKS

Wooo WHooo- 2 weeks...that is so cool. I would imagine, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, grits... not post op, but those are my guesses..oh, yogurt? soft lumpy soups?

Yeah!  Glad you have graduated to the next level.

I had RNY but at that stage, I ate the already mentioned items.......plus refried beans, cream soups, low-fat Laughing Cow cheese cubes - they are really soft!, farina, tofu, crab cakes, lentil soup, and some soy chicken strips......they are also very soft!

Good luck as you have fun experimenting!

Did u keep with your protein drinks during the mushies, or try to get your protein from food?

At the mushy stage I tried to stay with one protein drink a day but then get the rest of the protein from food.  Also, Dr. Larson said until I got to solids that the 60gr protein thing wasn't such a big deal.  The protein drink I used was EAS Myoplex pre-mixed chocolate and it had 42gr protein in it.  I would usually drink half in the morning and in the afternoon.

While on mushies you're going to be getting a lot more carbs than at any other time so you need to EXPECT a slow down or even a stall on the weight loss.  Don't fret though as you are still healing and need the mushies.  Time enough for weight loss in a couple of weeks!

My mushies consisted of everything that everyone has already posted, PLUS french cut green beans that were well cooked.  They are soft enough to chew up fine and not worry too much about them........and get a different flavor besides everything that is so bland.  Another thing I ate just shortly after getting out was a tamale!!!  Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but I was able to tolerate it with no problems, and barely ate more than a few bites and I was full.  Just make sure you have taken your protonix if you are on that.  I haven't had any troubles with my stomach at all, and can eat spicy foods just like always!  I guess I still have my cast iron stomach.....even if it is more like a tea cup now! LOL
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!
