Hi Missy,

That's a real bummer about the gall stones!  Seems like it's fairly common though for people who have had WLS.  My sister (RNY) had hers removed 2 or 3 months ago.  It can be a fairly quick laproscopic surgery and is done outpatient for most.  She was inpatient but had also gone septic.

I think she' did OK with the recovery and was off work for a couple of weeks since she lifts things as part of her job.

After surgery MILK it for all it's worth with your family!!  Have them wait on you hand and foot!!

I had to have my gallbladder removed less than a year after band surgery.  I too had to stay in the hospital. but then again I am not your average person.  It was the best surgery I ever had no more pain.  It was very quick recovery but I also had the onQ pain pump installed at the incision site.  OnQ is the greatest thing ever invented.  I will never and I mean NEVEr have surgery again with out it.

Missy, I'm sorry to hear this!!!
The surgery for gallbladder in my case was fairly good... I was up and about in a day or so just not heavy lifting for a while.. but the RELIEF you get when it's out is worth it!! No more gall bladder attacks or stone pain!!!
Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery!

I had my gallbladder taken out and it was the best and easy surgery I have had. I had it out, outpatient on a thursday and was back to work cutting hair standing all day on Monday. You will feel so much better!

I had mine taken out when I had my DS, glad I did too it seems fairly common that we have to get it done sooner or later anyway.  It should be a breeze - hope you get it over with and get better quickly!
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

Hello, I had my gallbladder removed one month before my WLS. It was a very easy operation, and was done lap. I was slightly sore when getting up or down but for the most part it wasn't that bad. I think I got my staples removed like 5-10 days later, I can't remember exactly. Your surgeon may not even use staples.

Good Luck, I hope it goes smoothly for you.. :)
