Hey Folks,

I haven't been on in a long time but have a quick question.  I turned all my information in about 3 weeks ago and got a call Friday to schedule my nutrition and psych eval for Oct. 30.  How far along am I in the process?  After this is done will I be ready to meet to schedule for surgery?

Thanks,

Dana

You are well on your way now.  Once I had my eval and nut scheduled, it was just a matter of days after that was finished that I had my surgery date.  Who are you going thru? Good luck with it!

I'm not sure which dr you are seeing but after the nut. and psych eval. there will be an app set up with the suregon and he/she will talk about which surgery you want and then he may sched. other tests you have to have before you can have surgery and you may or maynot have to complete a dr. advised diet were you weigh in monthly. after all tests have been done you will see the surgeion again to go over the results, then there may be other apps you have to go to. Then everything will be submitted to the ins.
After I was approved I was set up for  a pre-op class that I have to take on Tuesday, then I call back on Wed. to make an app. I think that is to talk about the surgery date???

Hope that helps.

Dana, I am so glad to see and hear from you!!!  I was beginning to wonder what had happened to you.  I should have known you were still "in the process" of getting ready for surgery.  it looks to me like you are well on your way there.  Don't be surprised to hear they want "just one more test" or something that seems to slow things down.  But hang in there!  Before you know it, we'll be making room for you on the loser's bench!  Keep us posted of how things are going!!!

Hi Dana!

Congrats on getting your psych and nut appointments scheduled!  Things should really start moving now!  Once you have these appointments they will write up their reports and forward the entire packet to the surgeon you selected.  For me it was at the end of the following week that I got the call from the surgeon's office for to come in and see him.  I had to get a cardio clearance but had my surgery itself within about 3 weeks of that appointment!!  So I'd say it was about 6 weeks total after the psych/nut appointment.  I guess I should add though that my surgeon's wait time was a lot less than some of the higher demand docs were, for instance, I've been told that Dr. Allen's wait time can be as long as 6 weeks just for an office appointment.

Keep us updated!!

Hi All,
I am new to the group here, Fort Knox, KY. Wondering if anyone has had tricare insurance and also Dr. Shina. I was supposed to hear from my insurance rep from his office as to where the office was at with all of my paperwork. Have not heard a thing. OK so what I am getting at is I have had my psych and dietician evals. He also wanted me to go to Cardio, which is later this month. He wanted me to go to Hemotology, went they drew a bucket of blood, have to go back later this month. And I have to go to Pulmonology later this month as well. So once this is all done is it just an appt with the surgeon or do I wait for Tricare to approve the surgery (although they had to approve 6 visits for me to go see the surgeon in the first place). I am really confused by all of this. Started with my PCM in Aug. Went to the seminar beginning of Sept. Please help if you know anything about tricare and Dr. Shina's office!!!

Thanks
Lisa
