OK, something is definitely lacking in my diet, I need fiber in the worst way. What are some options you all have tried to keep things moving. I probably eat too much cheese and not enough veggies, but do any of you use a supplement. I have been using some stool softeners.

Thank you ,
annie

I eat a lot of salads w/ my proteins.
Also, applesauce, plenty of water, and plums.
I don't use any meds.

I am a water fanatic for this problem. I also started eating the kashi go lean bars three times a week to help as a backup when needed....Pardon the pun!

I take fiber pills twice a day.  It will help you from backing up.  I use a generic but for years i used Benefiber.  the chewables taste like metalic tang.  I switched to the pills I could swallow.

hey annie,

i use the walmart equivalent to benefiber powder, called EZ Fiber.  It's low in calories and sugar free and is only about 7 bucks for a canister of it.  you add it to non carbonated liquids and soft foods and it blends right in without aftertaste or clumping and works great when you really need that extra fiber!
good luck!

Cut back on the cheese and add a couple of prunes and/or a granola bar. I like the higher protein ones since protein is a struggle for me. There are packages of 3 prunes called 100 calorie packs that work well and I keep some of them stashed in my desk at work. They make a pretty good snack, are portion controlled and seem to make sure everything keeps moving along.
