How much is your Dr. Giving you when he gives you a fill???? Maybe too aggressive with them??? And giving you to much at a time... I agree with Lee Ann and see if there is maybe another Dr. that you can talk with.
Support groups are VERY important....
It's definately not a CURE, its only a tool.. you HAVE TO DO YOUR PART.....

Good Luck.. Keep your chin up.....

lisa, you need to find a support group for you and your husband, and for the love of  God please find another doctor, if you are doing what you are suppose to you should lose 2-3 lbs a week. but you have got to stop with the junk food, if you can keep it down you can keep down the good stuff. there are things i cannot eat anymore, chicken is one of them, it  will get stuck everytime.  if your drinking softdrinks, quit, this can cause a 35 lb weight gain a year.
sorry if we are a little rough, but you have to think about your health and welfare.
try again

OK....  first off girls cat fighting isn't going to help her... She picked this surgery, she has to learn to work it...
LisaAnn, your doctors support system when I looked into them rocked... Use it.. They even have a weight loss management counselor on the ground floor of the hospital.. I walk by it every day..
Lap-Band is a tool.. you have to be mentally ready to loose weight.. Do I diet?? Not so much as I plan my day, Carry healthy snacks, and drink more water then I ever did in my life...
Try finding a support group in your town.. Try smaller fills.. in 2007 they had the new AP BANDS, do you know which one you have??
Use a appetizer plate and toddler fork and spoon.. I have been too tight, and It motivated me to keep my mind on track and keep my tool as open as I can to keep it and me together forever..
I struggle on some days.. I eat oreo's when I know I shouldn't.. But I shake myself off and start over.. If your husband and you want to set good examples then, JUST DO IT. one step at a time... U need to have a doctor you can talk to... One that does have some compassion and listens... I know for a fact this is important!!!!
Try challenging each other.... STOP eating mac and cheese!!! I could live on this but I don't.. man I could live in a world of my mother in laws mac and cheese...
And with the band you have to move... you can both do it.. just set your mind to it.. Or did u both pay that 4000.00 up front for nothing????
  Good luck!!
Dawn

Hey Dawn,

No cat fight from me. I stated my opinion and felt attacked because of that. I will defend the fact that I can have an opinion, no matter what.
She did pick this surgery, however, it doesn't mean she has to stick with it. I was just giving data about the band and letting her know she has other options. I would want someone to give me the same advice if I were in her shoes.
You gave her some great advice.. I agree w/ what you've said but sometimes we pick the wrong surgery .. and it's nice to know that we have options.

Katrina

PS- You've done awesome! I am in no way, shape or form putting anyone down with the band. It will work for some and you're proof of that.

I am so sorry you are feeling so hopeless - you got alot of good advice from others on here with experience with the band, listen to them.  Second of all get a second opinion if your doctor had no compassion with someone struggling with the band he has no business putting them in.  IMHO I have alot of respect for people who lose with the band, it has to be the hardest way to do it short of weigh****chers.  I don't pretend to know what you are going through but I think if it were me I would get over to the revision board and see what my options were if I thought I couldn't live with the band any longer.  There are people who have had revisions and lost their weight.  You have to do your research and calculate the risks.  Being depressed won't help things, if you need to get to your doctor to help shake the funk of depression do it, then do something about your band.  Only you know what you need, no one else can help you with that.  Best wishes to you I really pray you can get to feeling better soon.   Hugs, Vicki
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

Thanks for all the support it has really helped me.  Dr. Lusco is a great Dr, im just so dissapointed in my self to go bac****il I getback on track.  I also know about all the aftercare they have, but I live in Breckinridge County by Rough River , it takes me 1.5 hrs to get up to St Marys.  My hubby works 11 hr days .  I cut hair 4 days a week , plus I have 4 kids.  If I lived closer I would talke full advantage of everything.  I am going to buddy up with a few people to help and I would come to the support group meetings,  I will make it work for me, I need it. Thanks for all your help....

I responded to this once, but I think it was on the lap band board maybe.  I had the same group as you...only a different doc.  They do tons of bands and have an extensive support group.  However, all doctors are not always good listeners.  Make an appointment with Dr Lusco.  Be very blunt about your struggles and what you're feeling.  Don't beat around the bush.  I think they're a good group, but you have to have someone you're comfortable with.

Also, each one of us chose the WLS that we believed was best for us.  I do believe the band probably takes more "dieting, exercise, etc" to get the weight off.  However, with any surgery, if we don't make a life change, we have the chance to regain the weight.  If you talk to your doctor and you don't think you can work your band, then by all means, visit the revision board and educate yourself about your options.  I think being fully educated about whatever option you choose is one of the greatest factors which contributes to success...no matter which surgery you choose.
