She was having some minor problems so Dr. Rodriquez wanted her to have a EGD this morning.   I heard from here about 11:30AM,  all went well no erosion, just has gastritis and he given her some medications and a list of dos and don'ts with gastritis.

She will not be a group tonight but she said if she has to walk to our next meeting she will

Thank you so much, Kelly.  It feels better just knowing what it is.

Thanks Vicki.  You are the best.

We stopped to eat at Glendale at the Whistle Stop.  I got spaghetti so that it wouldn't scratch going down.  When I got home, I went straight to bed and slept until about an hour ago.  I guess getting up at 4 wore me out.

Now, my problem is that the medicine he prescribed for me is not covered by my insurance.  I was going to pay out of pocket but it is expensive.  So they have left a message on Dr. Rod's answering machine to see if he will change the medication for something the insurance will pay for.  So, I'm waiting to see if he'll order me something else or if I get to pay the full amount for this.

What did he order for you?????    If you can give me the name of the drug and insurance company I can check to see if you have to go through what they call step therapy and maybe be able to get around the denial if Dr. Rod will not change the medication.   you know I am here for you and will help you out

Hi Vicki,

He ordered Prevacid.  My insurance company is Humana.  The pharmacist said that I would have to try something before they would Humana would pay for the prevacid.  They called Dr. Rod and left a message.  If he doesn't answer by noon tomorrow, I'm calling LaDonna or Shelley and let them give him a message.  This has happened one other time and he called and changed my medicine.

Thank you for helping.

Yes Prevacid is a step therapy drug,  In other words you have to try another drug for a certain amount of time meaning you try another drug and it can not be samples from your physician for 28 days or longer and if it doesnt work then the Physician treating you can submit a review of the unaffective drug and request the medication that they orginally denied.    They probably will want him to prescribe protonix which is the most common to go on before going to prevacid as protonix is sometimes just as effective.

Hope Dr. Rod gets you something soon

Hugs

The pharmacist told me yesterday that the insurance would pay for this if he prescribed something and it didn't work.  I'll give the pharmacy a call a little after noon and if Dr. Rod hasn't called, I'll give Shelley a call or let them call her.  I really need something because I had a bad case of reflux last night.  Glad it happened after the endoscopy or I'd really be worried.

Thanks.

Hugs,
Laura

Hi
I do not know if you would qualify for the program but some of the pharmacutical companies give you medications at a much reduced price.  Maybe you could contact the maker. I wish you a speedy recovery and good luck- teach/sol

Thanks Sol.  I may have to go through a pharmacutical company.  It's funny-my insurance will pay for Prilosec but not Prevacid.  Strange.
