New- Looking for patients of Dr Weiss-Georgetown and any that have CHA ins.
Hi Glenda,
I had my surgery at St.Joseph East with Dr. Steiner(who is really fantastic)!! But, I replied because I am a teacher who has CHA. I was approved on my first try and very quickly!! I don't know if any of their policy has changed since the first of the year as some insurances have. Also, I do know that some employers CHA plans have a clause that states no WLS. Hopefully, you will have the same good luck with them that I did!!
God Bless You and Best Wishes on this fantastic journey,
Sharan
Hi Glenda,
Dr. Weiss and Oldham did my surgery and I think they are awesome. We have a support site most of us check in daily. (online) The care continues on and on. Im sure if you talk with Cathi that you could join and see for yourself how the whole team operates.

Welcome Glenda, your search is over, the two best surgeons and awesome support staff is at the Georgetown Hospital. I had surgery last July with Dr. Weiss and Dr. Oldham and they are best in my opinion. Where else can you go and have 2 trained surgeons operate on you (both operate on you together as a team), that have never lost a patient and have never done anything but laprascopic. Some surgerons will tell you that they do laprascopic, but then they get you in the operating room and open you up. Then after surgery, the hospital staff has monthly support group meetings and we have our own on-line message board that we can ask questions with the staff anytime of the day we want.
I was suppose to be at the 2/20 information seminar, but I have had something to come up and won't be able to be there. I promise you, once you meet them and hear their presentation, you will be pleased. Besides they are cuter than buttons! ha!
Now, before I get bashed by others, I am not putting anyone else doctors down. I am just completely blown away by this group of Doctors and they are my hero's. They gave me a gift that no one ever has given me before and they are the best!
I'm sure several people will be there to tell about their progress and they will be your inspiration to want what they have. This is your chance to have a 2nd chance in life, make the best decision you can.... I promise you will be happy...
Our support group is already working on things to do together. Example, a crusie, Kings Island, we are one big happy family and we are each others best support.
You will see, come to the seminar and you will feel that this group is truly blessed..
Hope this helps......

Tori, I was trying to have a little fun with the post because of course we all think our docs aare the best. After all, they have saved our lives and given us new beginnings. I sure didn't mean for you to worry. I have only heard one person say something bad about the doctor I was talking about and it could have just been an unhappy patient. You know how that goes. The main thing is to do your research and use the doctor that you think is best for you and your situation. Good luck on your surgery.
There are four components of the Bariatric program at Georgetown, all of which I love.
The first, of course, is the doctors. They are awesome!
They are dedicated, compassionate, and genuinely care for their patients before, during and after surgery. Their skill in laparoscopy is cutting edge. I can't say enough about the Rock Docs! Their staff is also excellent. I must mention Cassi who has had surgery and is supportive and full of advice. She is very sweet.
Next is the Bariatric Center. These are the support people who organize the whole process for everyone. You'll probably meet Cathi and Jo at the seminar. They are wonderful ladies. Both are nurses and have had surgery, and they came up with the WLS bible. It is the manual we all use to not only get ready for surgery but also to help us on our way. Their dedication to the patients is not just for the time between the seminar and a specified time in the future, but for life. The rest of the staff is great as well, from Catherine who coordinates the insurance (she'll get you approved if there is any way possible), to Joann, who coordinates the events and cooks up bariatric friendly food for the support group meetings.
Third is Georgetown Hospital. I have stayed in four of Central Kentucky's finest hospitals and I must say Georgetown is the best. The nurses were so helpful and friendly that I throught they were friends visiting rather than people just doing their job. The facility was sparkling (as it should be, but some aren't) and the furniture is all suited to bariatric patients. I would gladly go back if I needed any other procedures done.
Last, and most important, is the support group. These people are so great! I have made some truly remarkable friends through this program. It is so much less scary on this journey to know other WLS patients who have gone through the same things as you. To get to meet with them occasionally, and to meet even more, new people, is wonderful. Everyone is caring and kind. Also, as Teresa said, we are planning on some really cool WLS activities that hopefully everyone can enjoy.
Good luck on your journey. I hope you find out everything you need to know at the seminar on Friday. Sadly I won't be able to make this one (I had hoped to be there for show and tell), but come to a support group meeting and I can put a face with your name.

Hi,
Another Georgetown patient here. I had surgery on August 25, 2003. I highly recommend Dr. Weiss and Dr. Oldham and the staff as well as Georgetown Community Hospital. They are excellent surgeons and take very good care of their patients before, during, and after surgery. The Bariatric Center staff is the greatest. I don't believe you could find better care anywhere.
