I was called out on assignment to interpret for a deaf person who had WLS!! Man is that wonderful!!! However........ One of the nurses took me aside and told me that there was this wonderful young man on the same floor who has had many complications. His name is Daniel. I went down the hall to meet him and he is a very handsome young man!!! He is 23 years old and had surgery a month and a half ago. He went home (3 hour drive) and then they found out that he developed a leak!! By the time he got to the hospital he had to have blood drained and had to have a transfusion. He was so afraid to have his WLS done open and was successfully done Lap.. however, the doctors couldn't find his leak so they had to open him up. Whats worse is now he is on a feeding tube too. They found the leak but it was infected so it has to heal on its own. So its a "wait and see" game. Its not leaking out much now and it is starting to close up. Daniel has been in the hospital for a MONTH now I had NO idea and would have visited him if I had known. He is lucky that his job is letting him off and lots of people donated sick time for him. His mother has been there the WHOLE time and luckily she is a nurse. She is sleeping on this really small couch and luckily her job is not in jeopardy. He finally got a computer laptop tonight and is doing something more than jus****ching T.V. He has only had ONE visitor since he lives so far away! He would like to hear from anyone who has had a leak or any kind word. He is a sweet and cute guy and his family really loves and supports him. They are hoping that he can finally go home on Monday. Can you imagine being stuck in a hospital for a MONTH or longer? Sheesh. AND 3 hours away from home?!! So can you please just post a kind word or two to his page just to let him know he is thought about or if you have any stories about your leak that closed up.. please post to: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/status.phtml?N=V1061953147 Thank you very much!!!! If you happen to be in St. Joes East hospital.. he is on the 4th floor and I think it is room 405. He really enjoys visitors as the T.V. gets very very boring after a month! He can get up and walk around the halls but cant go anywhere else. Hugs, Dana

Thank you sweetie.. I really appreciate that! Beth, that is so wonderful what you are doing!!!!! One of my MOST cherished gifts is a pillow that was made for me by a member of this site 3 years ago. It is a small pillow and it has all kinds of cute hospital stuff on it. Kind of looks like it was made from scrubs material with all kinds of characters on it. It was invaluable to me and I even brought it to Florida with David and I when we had plastics.. we fought over it!!!! That is very sweet of you to do. You are an angel !!! Hugs, Dana

Hi Dana! That young man was in the hospital when I had my surgery done on 2/16 - my mother and girlfriend visited with his mother for quite some time! I think it's great that you were able to spend some time with him! I will send out an email tonight! Take care, Mags
