Hi Pepper! My name is Kim, I live in Frankfort. I am trying to get approval for my surgery. I am going with Dr. Weiss in Georgetown. I am 5'3, 276 lbs. I am in a 24 pants and a 2x top. I am so ready for this surgery. I met with Dr. Bolar, really liked him, only thing is I did not want an "open" surgery. Dr. Weiss's track records is better with lap gastric by-pass, also I am more familar with Georgetown hospital. I am now trying to get my insurance to approve my surgery, was hoping to have it done by the of the year, but not sure I'm going to get to. Email me if you want to. Good luck!

Hey Pepp, I had my surgery 12 weeks ago and believe me you are in for the ride of your life. I am so excited about this journey. Just make sure you have done your research.

Dr. Bolar was first in the region to do the laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and has done the most cases of any surgeon in the region. He not only performs the surgery but goes to other institutions to train other surgeons on how to do the laparoscopic RNY. The best advice on how to find a bariatric surgeon if you are unsure is ask your primary care doctor, they usually know the reputations of the surgeons or they can find out for you. Pepp, I am surgery on Sept 29 with Dr Bolar. My starting weight was 234 and I am now at 195. I had no pain at all and hardly used my pain pump at all. Dr Bolas does LapRNY and I think that he is the best. There are 3 women in my family who had surgery and have had no problems at all. It is a personal decision and I am so glad that I went with Dr Bolar. I was 2 weeks from having surgery with another dr and I think that I would have had a lot of problems if I went to that group. I don't know about Dr Weiss. Good luck and let us know how your journey goes. 'love and hugs Lynn
