was waiting/now denied

I am devastated...I was noseying aroung at the insurance company yesterday and a customer rep tells me I am denied... she thinks that medical criteria was not met. But St Joe East has not heard anything one way or the other.. I have cried and cried. I have no official notificaion yet so I don't even know where to start .... Do I have grounds for an appeal? or do I just give up after all this time, effort and expense. I have co-pays and deductibles starting to show up. So now I am gonna have lots of money out of pocket for something I can't have done now!!!!!

It could be a mistake. Wait until you receive a letter. I would think your Dr. would appeal for you?? I'm waiting too so i do not know for sure. What insurance do you have?? Blessings Tonya

There is an old saying "anything worth having, is worth fighting for" so depending on how important this is to you i wouldn't give up. I've been waiting for 7 months for approval and now I should find out friday. Besides you don't know for sure so wait until you do then decide. Good luck and God bless you.

My advice to you is to never give up. I am now 5 months post-op and would never have had the surgery if I had given up. My insurance CHA denied me twice and I asked for an external review. They overturned my insurance company and my surgery was paid for. My part of the bill was $100. I had surgery at St. Joe's East and am now doing great. Please don't give up. This is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
