Fresh PostOp
Well, I had Open RNY on Nov. 30th so now I'm offically a postop, YAY! Things are going so-so. Every day that goes by gets a little better, I just wish I was feeling back to "normal". My back is killing me because I can't get comfortable at night and it hurts all day long. Also, I already miss food, I absolutely can't wait to advance to eggs and such. I go Thursday for my first postop and I will be released for driving. There is an uncomfortable soreness where my incision is, I will praise God when I'll be able to sleep on my stomach again. I guess the positive things are that I don't really have a hunger, more like "head" hunger. Also my incision is looking pretty good, straight up and down. I'll be glad when I get released to drive because I think I need to get out of the house. Any words of encouragement would be great.
Wow, Jessica, I am still only dreaming of where you are at in your life. Still waiting insurance approval. But you said it yourself, everyday gets better, half the battle is over. You are in the home stretch now. Just a few more days of being uncomfortable and then think of the all the rewards, no feeling of awkardness when you realize you are the biggest person in the room, whether or not you can fit into that chair. All the things that prompted you to get the surgery, will shortly be gone forever.
Hang in there, and good luck!
It's great that you are on the losing side!!!!!!!!! Every day will get so much better for you. Isn't it wonderful to start on a new life. One thing I look forward to (and I know it's silly) is to be able to hold my tummy in and tuck in my shirts and look good!! Of course, the health part of feeling better is the most awesome of all. I'm sure you will do great.
God Bless,
Karen
Glad to hear surgery went well. Do you have a body pillow?? One of those long big pillows?? One of those may help you be more comfortable. I love my body pillow!!! I'm looking forward to being were you are now. My surgery is 12-28-04. Once you can get out of the house you will start to feel better too. It takes time. Remember these days will be a past memory very soon. Hang in there. You can do this!!!
Blessings

congrats on being on the losing side and each day does get better then the last b-4 you know it you will be back better than what you was b-4 you had WLS It took me about 3 mts to get all my strenght back just make sure you do not over do it when you get to drive cause your body is still healing and has not been long since you did a drastic change to it but just keep thinking how much better you will be looking and how great it will be when you reach your goal

Hi Jessica,
I read your problems, and I can relate. I am offically 1 month post op today. All that food you miss, is just your mind wanting that food. You see it on T.V. or pass by a fast food place, and I know you want it so bad. remember to keep saying, "I am stronger than the food". It is all a power of suggestion thing...how else would all these places be multi billion dollar business? Think about how much of our money they already have.
Once you start feeling better and you can feel the weight start coming off you will relize that you made the right choice, instead of saying what the hell have I done. At my first post-op visit I had lost 22 1/2 lbs. in 11 days. I have another appointment this Friday.
It sounds like you had an open surgery. I had laproscopic and am so glad I did. I had the surgery one Monday and was back to work the next Monday. Hang in there it will get better.
