WLS Support Meeting - Scott County Library
Tonight at the Scott County Library in Georgetown at 6:30pm there will be a support group meeting. Everyone is welcome regardless of when you had surgery or by whom.
The guest speaker will be Sheila Trent,RN who is the wife of Dr. Robert Trent, OB-GYN Georgetown Hospital. She is now offering the Palomar Pulsed Light System! It is way cool, as it removes hair from everywhere, removes sunspots from anywhere, removes facila brokem capillaries, and other imperfections. Nope...it doesn't do spider veins of the legs. It removes redness for those who suffer from acne rosacea, it tightens pores and removes fine wrinkles.
She will be giving away a complete skin care kit (raffle) featuring Oxygen Botanical Products as well. After that we will have patient sharing time where those who want can tell about their WLS journey/success !
Also at the meeting there will be a lady who sells many different kinds of proteins, and always brings protein samples at a very reasonable price. She also carries the Bariatric Advantage Vitamins which are specially made for Bariatric patients. She sells these at a low profit so we can get a better price than if we ordered them online.
The support group is very active with both pre-ops and post-ops. We have a Bariatric Patient Committee as well. This committee consists of weight loss surgery patients who volunteer their time and efforts, to help other weight loss surgery patients. Specifically, these members plan activities and events for the year which help to raise money for the Bariatric Patient Committee Fund. The money is used to help fund other activities/events for the patients and their families, and a portion of the funds will be donated to help with obesity research. Some of the events recently have been Cosmic Bowling, a Mardi Gras party, a Holiday party, etc. Some activities coming up include a Ceasers gambling boat trip, a Spring Fling flea market, a summer picnic at a park, and the most popular topic - The Second Annual WLS Bariatric Patient Cruise scheduled for October/November. There are actually two different weeks to choose from. If anyone is interested in joining a cool group of bariatric buddies for a cruise to Cozumel Mexico, among other places, contact me and I'll get you the info. Last year was an absolute blast!
