Well, c'mon people, what's the skinny. I am really excited to finally be going somewhere after being on the waiting list for Dr. Jeffrey Allen's group for 5 months with not a word from them, I feel like this must be too good to be true. The intake lady sent me an email today that they should be contacting me in 10-14 days to set up my first appointment. So come on, tell me your experiences with this office!!! Heather

I had my lapband surgery there in August 2004. Everyone there is WONDERFUL. I had a wonderful experience from the very beginning. They have a support group in Louisville that's run by one of the patients. They also have weekly band and RNY support group meetings (bands are Tuesday at 12:00, RNYers are Friday at 10:00) and monthly support group meetings at the Scott County Library. The next one is Thursday the 21st. We have a patient lead committee that plans events. Our next one is Saturday the 23rd. We are going to the Casino right across from Louisville. We also have 2 MSN message boards that are monitored by the nurses. One is for bands and the other is for everyone. Lots of wonderful things going on. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.

Robin, Is the thing at the casino at Caesars? I live about 15 minutes or so away from there! Heather

Heather, yes it's Caesars. I couldn't remember the name of it. Right now we are set to meet there on the 23rd between 11:00 and 11:30 in the lobby area. I can give more specifics when it gets closer to time.

Heather, when I was pre-op, if I had decided to settle for RNY instead of the DS, I had chosen the Georgetown group. In fact, I still attend (sporadically) their monthly support group meeting open to anyone at the Scott County Library. They seem to have awesome post-op support staff. I went with the DS instead and am totally satisfied. If you're interested, here's my surgeon's website--he does both RNY and DS and there's a nice comparison with pros and cons of both. Just add the (www.) newlifesurgery.org. Best of luck to you! -joanne s 277/162/150

Heather, I had RNY surgery on May 4, 2005 with Georgetown bariatrics. Dr.Weiss was my primary surgeon. I have nothing but great things to say about this program and the support you recieve from them and everyone involved. I encourage you to pursue your WLS with this group. Cathy
