Ok, I am just a little bit miffed. When I went to my consult and seminar with Dr Shina (and no, I am not miffed at him or his staff) I was told, everyone there was told, that we would have a 2oz pouch. I have been told over and over that I am supposed to use my little 2oz cup to measure my meals. 3 meals per day, 2oz per meal. Mostly meats, cheese, eggs, peanut butter. Ok, I did measure for awhile then I stopped and was just "eyeing" it. That doesn't work. I am back to measuring. I measure every thing even my liquid intake. I replied to a post on the main board just telling what Dr Shina had told me to do because this girls weight had slowed down. Going back to measuring has really helped me. I saw Dr Shina on August 24 and have lost 17 pounds since then, 87 altogether. I know every Dr is different and some Dr's allow their patients to eat more. Well, that is fine. I am going to do exactly what Dr Shina told me too. Measure, Measure, Measure! Someone flamed me on the main board, well she smarted off about me. I am too softhearted, I get my feelings hurt easily. Just because her dr might not tell her to do the 2oz doesn't mean she should smart off at me. Oh well. Those of u who have Dr Shina, I am right, right? 2oz's per meal? Oh, well that is what I am going to keep doing, its working for me. To each his own. I do know that Dr Shinas patients have great results long term in keeping the weight off and in my humble opinion, Dr Shina and staff ROCK. Sorry, had to vent. I don't go around smarting off about people and it bugged me that someone did about me. Hugs and Blessings Angela Open RNY 3/24/05 313/226/140???

Do I email myself the pics, save them as a file and then upload to photobucket? HELP!! I am so confused! LOL Hugs Angela Open Rny 3/24/05 313/226/140???

Ok Angela relax!! LOL Not everyone is as blessed as we are to have a wonderful Dr. Shina!!! Yes, you are right about the 2 ounces. Remember every Dr is different and that chick may not be doing what she is suppose to be doing. Try to let it go. If she is so worried and freaking out she should have called her Dr.'s office. That is my 2 cents!! Blessings Tonya GOOD JOB ON 87 lbs. GONE 4-EVER!!!!!!!!!!! WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Tonya, it didn't bother me real bad. I just wish sometimes people would I don't know really, I guess do what they are supposed to and respect that others might have to do something different. Its like every one thinks their Dr is the best. Well, I know Dr Shina is the best, lol....He is in my opinion but I am sure everyone thinks their Dr is.... Thanks and I hope to be at the century mark by Oct 15...Hopefully! Hugs Angela

I'm sorry that you got your feelings hurt, but I just read the thread in question and didn't see that anyone flamed you. I think that maybe you are being a little overly sensitive. As I read the thread it appeared that everyone was just offering their own experiences (which is all any of us have to offer) and there are a lot of them, since each surgeon seems to have different requirements for us. None are right or wrong, just different. Two women voiced concerned for you, but isn't that a good thing for us to be concerned about one another? They sounded sincere to me, not "smarting off". The board is a place for us to pose questions and receive many varied and diverse opinions. We don't all have to agree. But it gives us a way to find out how others are dealing with particular issues. In my case, my doctor requires that we never spend more than 20 minutes eating. But that is only my doctor. Does that make yours wrong? No! Only a different opinion. Wouldn't this be a boring place if we all agreed on everything? Remember that as you lose weight your hormones are running rampant. They can make us more sensitive to things, I know that my emotions were very close to the surface at times. It DOES get better. And it is worth every step of the journey! Good luck to you, Rhonna 320/287.5/175/165

I tried to respond earlier on here but it wouldn't let me so here is what I replied to in email... U look great by the way! Hugs Angela Hello, that isn't the thread I was talking about. I do know which u r talking about though. The one where the lady asked how slow do we eat. I know they weren't flaming me. Each of us just has to do what we were told by our Dr's and they are all different. lol On the post I was talking about it was just some one smarted off about me eating 2oz's. It wouldn't have bothered me but I had just posted Sunday about my son being saved I was so happy I wanted to share and there were a few people on there that I assume aren't Christians. Thats fine. I don't judge people by the way they live or what they do. I am just me. It shouldn't have bothered me about others posting how I was wrong in how much I eat cause we all got to do our own thing. Thanks and congrats on your loss! I am down to 225 now, thats -88lbs. I can fit into a size 14 dress but its way to tight to wear yet, but I will get there! Hugs Angela

Thanks! That picture was actually taken about 50# ago, I need to get an updated one, but I've always shied away from cameras because of my weight. Ahhhh... you are right, I did read the wrong thread (in both you had mentioned eating 2oz). I think some people are just not as tactful as they should be. People forget that the tone of a post can often be misinterpreted because we cannot see facial expressions and body language here. I also saw your other post about your son and was not surprised at the reaction. Some people have no class, if they have a problem with a thread they should simply move on. As I mentioned before, each doctor has his own criteria... in our Bariatric "Bible" in the Dietary Consultation section it indicates: "recommended 3T of protien (1 1/2 oz) for the first month...increase up to 3 or 4 oz per meal by three to four months. At one year you will increase your maximum intake to four or five ounces." Obviously, the type of food makes a difference as to how much you can hold. I can barely get in 3 oz of dense protein, but can easily eat the 4-5 oz if it is a combination of protein and other less dense foods. The key is that YOUR doctor (his skill and his requirements for the post op lifestyle) and you are responsible for your success or failure. By taking on this surgery each of us has made the commitment to follow our doctor's rules. So by doing so you are right, I am right and everyone else who is following their doctor's requirements are right! You are doing great with your weight loss, I was about 225 in this picture and happily in a size 14 (I'm about 6' tall). I am now at 175 and a little uneven, size 12 on top and a 6 or 8 pants, depending on the manufacturer. I am really quite happy with where I am at and wouldn't mind at all if I stopped right here except for the fact that I would like my top to even out just a bit so I could wear a suit again! Right now I put one on and the skirt falls to the floor. LOL Keep doin' what you are doin' and it will continue to fall off of you. I can say with utmost certainty, every day it just keeps getting better and better! Rhonna

Thanks Rhonna! U r right I don't think some people realize about the tone before they post. I always try to think about what I am going to say because I don't want to intentionally hurt someones feelings. Congrats your loss that is just amazing! My top part is smaller so I might be a 14 top but my rear is definitely bigger. My size 16 dress fits good, but I haven't tried on jeans or anything yet. My 24's fall off so I am definitely smaller than a 24 around the waist. I am thinking a 18/20 might do for jeans. I need to try some on to see. I remember when u had your surgery last year, I had just had my consult. I can't believe how the time has flown. Congrats again!!! Angela

Angela,. I read the thread about your son being saved and rejoiced with you. I, honestly didn't see anyone on there flame you over that. I DID see one or two posters simply make a remark that we aren't supposed to post religious stuff to which tooter replied, the rules have been changed and we can now do that unless it satarts a debate. I did not see anyone actually flame you. My goodness girl, you have so much to be thankful for, don't go reading things that aren't there. It really is hard to tell how a person means a post on the internet. Then I saw you go to the christian board and post that people on the main board had been rude to you (or something similar to those words) and I thought, "I didn't see that at all".
