Hey Folks, I have been coming to this site for a while now. It is an excellent site. But I have given up my dreams of having the Rny-Y surgery. I have a plan that will not pay and I have no money or hopes of getting the money for a surgery. my doctor told me to quit my job and go on welfare because they WILL pay for the surgery. But I have a 12 YO daughter and no child support. So I need my job. I now weigh 378 pounds and my BMI is over 62. Does anyone have anything encouraging for me??????

DON'T LET THEM WIN. Find a surgeon who will take payments. They do exist. Talk to your company representative. I was told some companies will let you pay the additional premiums to cover the surgery. APPEAL APPEAL and APPEAL AGAIN. We are in the same boat. I know for a fact that my body is quitting and I don't have the responsibility of a child. My doctor said at the seminar that anyone with a BMI over 50 or 60 has no chance of living to be sixty. These people are taking your money and refusing to help save your life. Will your company be changing carriers in January. That is generally the time they change. Ask your representative at work. They should know now if they are changing. Keep trying! DON'T LET THEM WIN!! I was told there are some doctors who set up payment plans. When I was initially denied and was trying to figure out what else to do, I kept going through the pre-tests. A lot of these tests your family doctor could order and most of them would be beneficial even if you are not planning on surgery. The Stress Test, testing your heart and the Upper GI. God Bless You.

Cynthia, KEEP ON TRYING.....IF not for yourself, for your daughter. There is a away, you just have to find it. I know that when you do get the surgery you will be very happy you kept trying, and you will feel healthier, and able to go and do things with her, You will be there, that is what is important. I know that if I had not had my WLS I may not have had my life to look forward to, NOW I DO! KEEP LOOKING...! Go to the surgeon section on this web site, and call every office, and see if they will work with you...(just an idea) Good Luck Sweety! Huggs Sunni
