? about loose skin problems?
question about issues from excessive skin
Ok, I have a sort of stupid question. I am going to see my plastic surgeon for my intial visit and consult on March 29. Right now I am 10 pounds from my surgeons goal for me and 20 pounds from where I want to be. My insurance co has to have documentation from me, the drs, etc about problems that have been caused by the loose skin. I have used rashes, yeast, sores, open sores that ooze, pain from where the skin is hanging on the arms and breast so much..My insurance co tells me that they will pay for whatever I need done as long as I can prove medical necessity. Is there anything else I can complain about on the arms? I am worried that just saying the excess skin is causing me pain in my arms, shoulders won't be enough. I also have to take pics of myself naked once a month to show the skin. This is part of their criteria to be turned in with whatever the ps submits. Just wondering, what would u complain about on the bat wings.
Hugs

Yes I was a diabetic, but since surgery I haven't had to take any medication for it. I was on Glucophage 500mg 2 times a day up until I had surgery. I wonder how I should word that in my letter to them and in my documention? I have to keep a biweekly log of problems that have been caused or are caused by the skin. Rashes, sores, shoulder pain, back pain, hip pain, headaches, etc. Thanks for the tip, I hadn't thought of the diabetic thing...My insurance says they will cover what I need done as long as its proved medically necessary so I hope the plastic surgeons office I chose will help me with that. I don't have an appt with them until March 29, but I still have 18 pounds until I hit my goal...Thanks again and good luck..
Heres a tip that might help you with plastics if u need them, when u lose 50-70 pounds, start a daily, weekly, bi weekly log of what problems have come up and complain about yeast, rashes, sores each time u see your surgeon. Also, this is gross but its part of the critera my insurance co has to have, I have to take pics of myself naked once a month to show the skin. When the plastic surgeons office submits for approval they have to submit my pics and my skin problem diary..Its not fun, but its what my insurance asked for...
Oh well, long as they pay...
Thank u..

I have tried to run down all the rumors about loose skin and so far the only surgery I have had any help with was a tummy tuck when I had a hernia and rashes. That was about 2.5 years ago. Afriend has a hernia and tried to get the insurance to pay and was turned down. Another false rumor is about burn hospitals harvesting the skin. I called and was told no. They use a new skin substitiute that the body doesn't reject as quickly or as often.
