2nd appt done`
Hey everyone, I am still new to the board and love what I see so far with the community support. I have to go through a 3 month diet plan with my Aetna and I just wanted to say I had my second round of appts today. That just makes me that much closer to my goal of having surgery. I cant wait to be on the losing side of things.
We have the Apple Festival the first weekend in October every year. I Locve it and since I live right down town..I am right in the middle of it all. I think i love all the people watching i get to do more than anything..well and the funnel cakes of course. However my new philosophy is the same as Susan Leach (sp) nothing tastes as good as thin feels. I say that to myself anytime I put something in my mouth now which has caused me to put quite a few things right back down.
Hi Gidget,
We are practically neighbors. I live in Knott County. Congrats on getting closer to surgery.... thats one less hoop to jump.....you are getting there....I have never been to the Apple Festival. I do go to the Gingerbread festival...but for the last 3 or 4 years that festival has been pretty boring. My favorite festival to attend is the Black Gold Festival...its only 20 minutes from my house and we go to it every night. Its amazing the people you see at the Black Gold festival that you seem to never see any other time during the year. But anway...just wanted to say Im proud that you are almost at the point of surgery. Good luck on the other "hoops"

How funny is that?? I grew up in Knott County, graduated from Knott County Central in 1990. Lived on Beaver Creek all during my youth. Yeah the Gingerbread Festival has always been dead, the Black Gold is good, however the Apple Festival beats it hands down. Hillbilly Days in Pikeville is not bad either.
I was telling my dad today I would love to visit the area again..when is the apple festival and are there hotels in the area? it's been so many years..
When we visited ages ago, we stayed at my aunts house..did you know anyone by the last name of Harmon?
I am sitting in my cousins room watching a Dracula movie..how fun is that?
We are visiting my aunt and uncle in Clinton Tenn..we may drive on to Gatlinburg tomorrow just for the fun of it!!
talk to you all soon
I truly love this world sometimes. I truly am suprised how small this world is as we have a cabin in Gatlinburg and travel their quite a bit.
The Apple Festival has its own site at http://www.kyapplefest.org/ The lodging link is on the left. I highly recommend the Ramada, the rest are OK, but the Ramada really takes care of you.
The last name of Harmon does sound familiar, however I am not from here, I am from Knott County. Moved to Paintsville right after graduation, then moved to Ohio for 6 years, just moved back to Paintsville about a year ago.
Dracula huh.....I am not really into scary movies.
The funny thing is we were talking about handsome actors and the name Frank Langella come up. He played Dracula in 1979, my cousin (different cousin ) went to see it at the local theatre..I wasn't into scary movies either but one look at this Dracula and I feel in love, it went from a scary movie to a "oh man look at this guy he can bite me anyday" LOL
so here we are 2 grown women, Sherri who works at Parkview hosp in Knoxville, Tenn and is around 40ish..here I am 50 yrs old watching a Dracula movie just to check out the hot scary guy..
anyway..we didn't make it to Gatlinburg we were having to much fun with the family..guess I will have to make another trip down there this spring.
The weather was so pretty, it would have been the perfect time!
I would love to have a cabin down there..how awesome is that?
If we make it to the apple festival I will let you know!
