Where to get the application at?
Hi Amanda.
I dont know a lot about the lap band because I had RNY. I do know that the surgeons who did my surgery do the lap band. You call their office and they send a packet for you to go over and fill out. Once they receive the packet back, they call or mail you an appointment for a consultation. This is the way I had to do it. Someone else who has had the lap may know of a faster way to get the process started. My surgeon is in Louisville. They do their surgeries at Norton Hospital. It is University Surgical Associates. The number is 502-884-8303 or the toll free number is 1-800-872-8033. As far as I know, Dr Cacchione is no longer taking bariatric patients, but Dr. Jeff Allen and Jorge Rodriguz do. I would suggest doing a lot of research on the dr you choose. Ask how many surgeries they have done, how long they have been doing bariatric surgeries, what are the success rate of his patients, death rates of his patients.....questions such as those.....GOOD LUCK!!
Well just wanted to let you all know that I got a call today from Kim at DR.Nease's office in Huntington I am going to the siminar on the 16th in Ashland and she is sending me out the papers to fill out. Gosh I am so excited, She said that there shouldnt be any problem getting me approved and that I should have surgery within about 2 months. Thanks everyone for your help. Amanda

Thats great Amanda!! Good Luck. I now wish I had the lap band because I have had such a hard time with RNY, but I am happy with what I have lost. I have lost exactly 120 pounds from surgery. My highest weight was 464. I went on a very strict diet to get down to 352 the day of my surgery. I am now 232. I was told the more weight I lost before surgery, the greater my chances were for a successful surgery. I was suppose to have LAP RNY but ended up with OPEN RNY and now I need a revision. I am currently losing weight again, but its not been easy. The support I get from on here makes losing the weight a lot easier because you get a lot of inside info like recipes and ways to lose the weight faster with plateau buster diets and things like that.....my best advice would be to stay in contact with this site even after surgery....one of my biggest faults was staying in contact with this site while I was getting ready for surgery but about 6 months after I stopped coming on this site and I lost a lot of valuable info by doing that.....
Rosanna,
Thanks so much for the advice, I need all I can get. I am at my highest weight of 288 lbs and Im only 5ft tall , I have over doubled my weight since starting to have kids 12 yrs ago. So I want to get back to the old me around 125 - 130 would be great but anything under 200 would be fine, I really just want to be healthy for my 3 kids ages 12,10,8 they are the world to me. I have a hard time accepting that Im this big, I dont feel as big as I am. If you could (or anyone else could) Id love to hear how things go after the surgery. Iv read alot of things, but know one really says how they have done through their whole day and things. Any info would be great. Also I need some help with my profile if anyone would like to help me with that. Thanks Amanda
