I was wondering if there is anyone out there who would be willing to let me see a picture of what the scar from open bypass surgery looks like? I had my gall bladder out in 92' and was wondering if I would have to have that cut across or messed with in any way? My gallbladder scar goes from my mid-chest, just under my breasts, all the way around to my right side. Any info is well appreciated. I have my 1st date with surgeons office on Friday and I am trying to be fully prepared! Thanks!

there are surgeons that can do this laparoscopically ...just because you had gallbladder surgery open doesn't mean you have to have bypass surgery open as well... I suppose that depends on your surgeon...but I know many who only do lap no matter ..it does take a bit longer as they have to cut through scar tissue and adhesions..but it can and is done all the time. Shannon, I am 4 week postop. You are welcome to see what an open looks like. I live in rhyniville. Also I had a JP drain. and a Gtube to drain the stump so to make sure I didn;t have a leak. Patty

My scar is in a pic on my profile. I was reading thru some of the older post and saw this. U r more than welcome to look. I am proud of my scar. This surgery helped me lose 160 pounds. But with my tummy tuck in Aug or Sept I am told I won't have much of a scar left, lol.

U should be here before ya know it! I chose to have open, crazy I know. But I just felt safer with the open. Even one I know personally that has had the Lap has had some sort of complications, maybe not severe ones but irritating ones, lol. I just chose the open. The pain wasn't as bad I as I expected and the scar won't be there after my tummy tuck or at least thats what my plastic surgeon says.
