what in the world is a gallstone?

ok went for my gallbladder ultra sound this morning.... and the tech said i have a nice fat juicy gallstone! i am worried that this is going to stop my surgery... lord i hope not. anyone else find out they have gallstones in their preop testing, and if so did it hamper the surgery decision????? lori

No, it does not usually interfere with the surgery. They just take out the gall bladder and stone at the same time they do all the other. Actually, it saves you from having another surgery "down the road" somewhere!!

You are lucky to find out that you have them this way. I found out that I had gall stones by crushing chest pains through my body that sent me to the emergency room. This way your gall bladder will be removed during your WLS and you will save the pain and expense of another surgery. NG
