I was finally able to reach Kat. She thanked everyone for the well wishes, thoughts and prayers. She said that they had planned ahead for this event for many years and feel they are in an OK place at this time. They were FINALLY able to find a hotel and are keeping their sense of humor about the situation. I'll let Kat update everyone but will say think, mirrors, dayglow paint and blacklights. As KAt said... it's dry, with a bed and near a great mall. As she is on the second responders team she needs to return home to take over her responsibilities at the hospital. Currently the hospital is without full electricity and running water but the staff is doing OK given the situation. Kat expects that she may leave Houston tonight. She called the LA State Police and was told that they have yet to navigate the roads so noone may travel them at this time. She will check with them again before leaving. They have the hotel room for another day so if she has to stay she can. Kat feels she may be ok when they get home. There may be some slight flooding but not what was initially envisioned. Her aunt who lives about 5 miles from her stayed and reported that there was some flooding in her area but since the aunt's house is raised the water did not enter the home. Kat will probably be returning to an area without electricity so she does not expect to be online immediately. She may also be required to stay at the hospital for a few days straight as relief for those staff members that have been in the hosptial already for a few days straight. She said she would try to call me and let me know how things are going and if she needs anything. I told Kat that she and her family and all those affected by this hurricane and still in out thoughts and prayers. I'll keep you updated when I hear from Kat. Carolyn

Unfortunately, over night the waters continue to rise, now more than 6-8 ft deep, standing water, and rising.... I posted more on the main board: http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/messageboard/postdetail/1466258.html?vc=0
